I know you love to troll but would you seriously want someone with Levy's football knowledge picking players?!
Of course we need a DoF.
Not sure what you mean

But a managing director of football or DOF at Spurs is redundant because DL intervenes anyway.

What the likes of Conte, Mourinho, Poch etc., want is the final word on players (understanding financial limits). Too many layers just helps muddy the waters at Spurs. The system that works well at many clubs has failed with us because of DL and I don’t see it getting any better

Interesting that people who rarely post like to dish out neg reps. In fact looking at them I suspect it is one person with several accounts as the amount of posts are pretty much the same.

Anyway it keeps you off the streets

Yet lots of reports that DL took much more of a backseat once he hired Paratici. Albeit with the final say on some bits.

Did Levy intervene in the signings of Bentancur, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr, Romero, Richarlison, Perisic, Danjuma etc.? I know he stopped Man City from taking the piss over Kane and stepped in when the deal for Porro was going round and round in circles. He also signed Spence but is that really such a biggie?

They might as well retire then because pretty much every top club in world football operates with a DOF, head of recruitment or some kind of transfer committee. It's not the 1980s anymore where managers do the transfer deals and look after the budgets.

we don't tend to find out, do we- even when the now many ex-managers blast him even I'll accept that's only one side of the story.

ITK did suggest he did Porro, which explains why it took as long as it did- and was another buy now pay later job.

Might be wrong but I thought the deal was going tits up and that’s why levy had to get involved and complete?

I thought Porro was going round and round in circles til Levy stepped in near the end and pushed it over the line.

Someone made a good point on a pof recently that rather than pay a DOF a fortune use that money to invest in the biggest and best analytics department in football with lawyers and agents doing the negotiations for players.

I guess you would still need a manager in the sense of bringing it all together but I'm not sure it needs to be a high profile football one in the Paratici mould isn't Liverpools new man a data scientist?
