IMHO, it's gonna be Son the way it looks. All attentions were on him.

And sadly, look at how soon Kane walked away from everyone after the ceremony. Throughout the preseason, he had been mostly walking ahead all by himself.

Time to bump this then…

Hugo no longer first choice / likely soon out the door and Kane off to Bayern we need a new captain.

Dier & Davies have had the armband during pre-season at times likely due to their longevity at the club but neither are anywhere near guaranteed starters so it can’t be them.

Id like to see Bissouma given the armband, he’s a well liked determined fellow and should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

I can also see Ange possibly going for Son although I’d prefer someone a little younger as if this is going to be a 4year project then Son will slowly fade out the team.

Bentancur would be a great captain too if he was fit and ready to go, could give it to him & Biss one captain one vice although that would then kind of nail those 2 as starters in CM with Maddison.

Romero is too reckless.

Emerson Royal? Zero to hero haha!! 👑

One of the new boys, Maddison or Van Der Ven both too new.

No obvious standout candidates really so very interesting decision for Ange.

Slim pickings sadly. Son is a great bloke and I wouldn't be too opposed but I always prefer when a centre half or centre mid is the captain and can influence the game more centrally (don’t get me started on having the keeper as captain😬). He is a nutter but I actually think captaincy may be a way of curbing Romero’s crazy side. I’d probably go for him on that (admittedly very tenuous) basis

Can't see any leaders in this team right now. Bissouma maybe but definitely not Son. Way too nice and isolated at left wing.

Think it all depends on what you want from your captain…

Somebody who represents the face of the club, respected by fellow pros, leads by example in big moments on the pitch while being respected by every player off the pitch too. This would have to be Son.

But if you want longer term drive, fresh blood to lead us into a new era throwing off the shackles of the past and a re-invention of what the new Spurs can achieve and grow into. Then you’d have to go Bissouma.

Personally I’d be happy with either. Heart says Sonny, Head says Bissouma

Maddison 100% for me, Son is not a leader and on a downwards trajectory, Maddison is the new face of the club. If its Dier I will cry.

I worry about the lack of leadership now.

time for someone to step out of Kane’s shadow

I think brand comes into it a lot these days - which means it''ll be Son. To be honest he's the only real option anyway. I don't think you can give it to Bissouma when he hasnt even really established himself in the team yet.

We literally have no leaders. Kane wasn't a leader, he was a model professional. Lloris was in my eyes never a good option as captain.

They will give it to Son but I don't see him getting the team going when up against it or inspiring them to victories.

I actually think Hojbjerg is possibly the closest we have but he is just a pointy side passing player who may struggle to get minutes and may be off. Likewise Dier who at least talks is unlikely to get the minutes on the pitch.

This is a new Tottenham. Maddison would be my choice but I don't see it to be honest.

Probably will and should be Maddison

The new number 10, takes free kicks and prob pens, speaks well with media, clear first choice attacking midfielder

He’s the only stand out really. But if we are being honest, this squad is bereft of real leadership. We are a work in progress, and a lot of these players will need to grow up if we are going to have any measure of success.
