Anyone got any strong views on who will be given the Armband?
Cant think it can be Harry given the uncertainty with his contract but after that im struggling for nailed-on starters that are leadership material.
Is Sonny the left-field option?

Why not Eric Dier, Big Dav or Ben Davies?

For posterity, that was a joke.

If Bents was fit, he would be up there for me

Son is a good shout. Although I would not like to see him as a must-start. I also think in rough patches, he tends to withdraw, though that’s obviously hard to tell from where we sit.

Bissouma seems like a serious and dedicated professional, and based on some of the clips we’ve seen + the Maddison interview, seems to have a bit of character too. Is he a natural leader? Not sure.

You’d want someone who’s regularly on the team sheet, a model pro and well-liked personally, so maybe Biss ticks all the boxes.

Bissouma for me.

Ange commented on this in his presser. Said he was going to let it happen organically and he was looking at players who lead naturally - but may not necessarily be vocal.

Bissouma strikes me the joker in the group, not really a leader type. Would be very surprised if we went there, especially as he's so new.

Kane's the obvious pick if he stays ofc, but beyond that I think we go Sonny. He's the most senior player that's likely to start most games, has captained Korea, is beloved throughout the club, wears his heart on his sleeve, etc.

He's not exactly a classic Keane type captain who will scream his lungs out, but I think symbolically he makes the most sense and he's an absolute professional.

interesting. I have not seen that from him. I think of Royal as the joker of the group.
Maddison said he thought Biss was the biggest joker in his v.recent interview thing so I'm going based on that plus him generally being cheeky with the camera guys, dancing on social media, etc.

Seems like a great bloke with really positive energy so who knows?

Obvs Kane, but if not, left field small chance of Maddison. Ange has been talking up his leadership skills.

Whilst I'm sure he's going to evaluate players through training, I'm positive he knows who the likely candidates are already. If Kane is staying it's going to be him, but he can't say that with the uncertainty right now.

Bissouma is showing great character, and I like his attitude in training from what we've seen. Don't think it will be him though, but it's good to have positive characters in the dressing room.

Most likely be Son.

I wasn't going to comment on the thread, then noticed that, for some reason, your post was worthy of a Disagree about Son, but nobody else's, and that made me chuckle.

Honestly, I can't pick who our Captain will be next season - Kane is the obvious first choice, Son I'm not sure has the leadership qualities (and I'd not want to distract him from finding that form again) and he's already practically our ambassador to the entire of South East Asia anyway.

I'm not petty and going to start thinking I've got any right to insult any of our players, even those off form like some think they do, but there's a longer list of who I think wouldn't make a reliable captain than there is who would unfortunately. We just don't have many vocal players who carry the weight of respect, with any sort of proven evidence to suggest they would lead. Tough call for Ange.

I think we all know who it should be and that’s our future treble winning manager, Ben Davies.

I just watched Son interview to club media now: , looks like Son is ready for captaincy.

Saying moment he stepped out of airplane for this tour ,time has come for him to lead the young players.

He doesn’t specifically say captaincy or Kane being there or not. He just speaks about himself and how his role should now change .

If it’s not Kane, it’s Son 100% for captaincy

Surely, we need to wait until Ange knows who his preferred 1st eleven is? Doesn’t the skipper need to be one of them?
