I told my friends, Zimmerman has no fucking business being in our back. He's Gregg's favorite pet. So fucking annoying.

US not playing the ball fast enough. getting stuck on their own feet, too many touches, etc.

R16 was about the most I expected from this side. Now they need to ditch Berhalter and figure out some attacking options for 2026.

USA have impressed me over all. They lack a striker and a defender but think they play some decent football. That was a Dutch tactical masterclass today though - they defended like seasoned pros and finished clinically.

Obviously the Dutch tactics helped this happen, but it was fun to see the Americans go out in a knockout stage controlling the Midfield as much as they did. I've seen too many of the games where they go out with 28% possession in previous world cups.

Dumfries the difference here - two assists and a goal. And they say he doesn’t have end product. Looked very good to me.

USA was defensively very poor. Adams was lazy in tracking Memphis for the first. Then poor from Adams again in not closing Dumfries down for the second. Dest was slow to get across covering Blind. Then Robinson not marking who he should be for the third. Really basic defensive mistakes.

US do not deserve to go through on this showing. In fact, it’s been a poor World Cup for them in general. A decent result against England (who were more focused on not losing), a poor draw against Wales, barely beating Iran. The US commentators are waxing lyrical about the US performances, but it’s really not been good.
