I would be delighted to get this done now, especially after the weekend and watching United and Chelsea trying to defend, both crying out for a CB.

Skriniar is in the top echelon of world football in terms of CBs. This is one of those signings that would transform us if he settles quickly. More important, for me, than a backup striker.

If we get this one over the line I think Skriniar could become a bit of a cult hero.

Guy is built like a tank, goes for everything and runs like a demented gremlin.

I love him already.

This is a higher priority than a striker for me. If we really want to push up the league, then we need to be improving on the weakest members of the 1st team. That's how you improve a squad. I get the need for another striker, but a top notch CB will make more of an impact.

One great thing about signing Skriniar is that he has been used to playing with the current interpretation of the handball rule in Serie A for the last year or so. For those of you who did not see MOTD's analysis of the stats last year they shows that there were nearly 50 and 60 penalties for handball in La Liga and Serie A last season (where they had this interpretation of the rule), compared to something like 15 in the PL.

It's great being linked with and buying players of this calibre. Do u thinks this is our van dijk moment in terms of the quality of this player? Only watched YouTube clips so no idea how good he is, but a relative is inter and she doesn't want him to go.

Disagree, if Kane gets injured we are genuinely so fucked

It’s a statement signing again though. We sign him and it kicks the other CBs in the squad into gear as they’ll know it’s to replace one of them! Will be interesting to see.

I agree, they are both massive but in different ways though. Skriniar would definitely elevate us and take us up a level which of course a backup striker wouldn't, but if we don't get a backup striker and Kane gets injured due to playing too much then we once again go down a level.

Hopefully we get both in. I never would have thought we'd address 3 of our back 4 positions in one window, even if it was obviously needed. Just always imagined it being something that would get done over a few windows. Crazy.

Disagree, if Kane and Son both get injured then we are fucked until the next transfer window. The chances of that happening again are very low though, so whilst I don't see us not signing a striker this window, I would probably consider it a risk worth taking if it means getting Skriniar in.

Kane and Son are essential first team players. Kane needs an adequate backup/replacement/rotation to stop him burning out, but while Moura and Bergwijn, with Lamela as a further backup, might not have been enough on their own last season, Bale adds a bite we lacked previously. So while I agree another striker is needed, being completely f*#@ed is too far imho.

Hamstrings are the worry with high volumes of games. I think CB and ST are of equal importance. Would be buzzing for Skriniar to come in.
