Toby is by far and away the most talented CB we have and we play far better when he's in the side and on form. So confused why so many people are saying Dier or Sanchez should be pairing a new CB. Why shouldn't he be playing alongside Toby? What's the thinking?

Gotta say, perfect username for the post. ??

Because they're similar. Sanchez is the one who has the attributes that the others dont have which is mainly his speed

No idea if it’s been posted already, but the evening standard are saying that Mitchell has been spotted in Italy with a Milan delegate. There story is taken from something Dan Kilpatrick shared, which also has a picture.

Why not build a side around our better players rather than building it around players who the jury is really still out on whether they're top class. It's like the lop-sided defensive LB, attacking RB thing. Building an entire team shape around enabling a player like Aurier to attack was never going to be a trophy winning idea. Surely we'd want a new top class CB to play alongside our current best CB?

If Mou is dead set on Skriniar and wants to build the defence around him then fair enough I guess.

Probably been mentioned somewhere, but they must still owe us money from Eriksen, so that'll be factored in.

All the Italian media outlets are going to have a field day with this story (and Milik) now - would advise that people apply a lot of salt.

I have to say I think italian media outlets are far and away the least trustworthy.

We wouldn't send Hitchen over there in the midst of a potential second lockdown if we weren't serious. Be delighted if we got him though.

Yep, some of us (me included) probably forgetting about this when we are wondering about our ability to afford this deal.

A test of Levy's resolve to give Mourinho what he wants. Personally, I'd be happy for us to go for Diallo as the cheap option striker if it meant we could get Skriniar (or Dias for that matter) over the line.

If we send Hitchen only out if a deal is very likely and far advanced, he must have had a decent last few years at our club.

We should continue signing players Mourinho wants, but I wouldn’t call this a ‘test of Levy’s resolve’ given the players he’s signed already!

Even so. Discussions can happen over Zoom/Skype, especially now. Flying him out when our country is on the brink of a 6 month lockdown suggests we're very confident and very serious.

We are looking for opportunistic buys, Inter wants to get rid of him, they owe us some Eriksen money and Hitchen was apparently there. Conte could implode at any moment and new coach could play him and his price could rise to 80m again, now is the time to get him.

Yep,that line of thinking makes perfect sense. We've got plenty of players who could score a goal when we need one, but not many who can keep one out at the other end !

Could you imagine flying to another country to bid on something only to find when you get there they want more than you're willing to afford? Surely its all been encouraged over the phone first. I can't help but be reminded of Levy with Modric and agent which was shortly followed by the announcement. Here is hoping anyway. It would be rude not to pick up some Milik while in the country as well.
