I don't understand why people are writing anything off or saying it's done, it's pure conjecture, at least wait for some actual news tomorrow. Our main man Alasdair Gold said we're expected to go in with another bid, our ITK said we're still negotiating and it's 50/50 so just wait until tomorrow.

I think it's more, we were led to believe Skriniar wasn't really wanted by Conte and wasn't in his plans...but he's started the last couple of matches, so maybe they're actually going to keep him after all.

I think it's just posturing on both sides

"Nah, we don't really need him"

"That's fine, we do. Honestly"

If it wasn't for our pursuit of him, he probably wouldn't be starting consecutive games. Him playing doesn't indicate he isn't coming, it indicates that he isn't coming as of yet.

He probably ain't coming but it's nothing to do with whether or not he plays today.

Well we only have to wait one more day to find out.

I don't think this is going to happen now but if I'd love to be proven wrong.

thats fair enough, I just feel playing dier there is a stop gap. He’s done ok so far - but would like a proper cb there. But then I don’t really know much about skrijiar so can’t say I’m overly disappointed
Skriniar would be an improvement on what we have in all probability, however I think even if we signed him you’d end up disappointed as Mourinho clearly disagree about Dier being a stop gap.

I personally think Dier is doing well and as long as he irons out that slight issue with his anticipation, which will come with games and confidence, he’ll have a very good season for us.

Our window’s been that good that I can’t even muster the slightest anxiety about not landing him tomorrow.

We’re now stronger in the following:
RB
LB
DM
WF
CF

And Tanguy is now determined to fight for his place. Plus Lo Celso has a Premier League season under his belt and Lamela is looking like a proper bastard. Additionally, we’ve got Tanganga back, who Mourinho really rates.

It’s been a great window- anything else at the quality of Skriniar would be exceptional

It'd be interesting to see Dier on the right as Skriniar is very comfortable on the left. I feel like I presumed that Dier would be the aggressive defender in our backline but he actually seems closer to Toby which is a more technically adept defender with good range of passing, I think Skriniar would really mesh well with him.

I´m not that bothered. We can always use an upgrade, but this wasn´t a problem area for me before the TW, and we´ve had the best TW in ages, so this would be the cherry on top of the icing on top of a Bale-shaped cake for me. Some of you behave like magpies, always hunting for the next shiny thing.

it ain’t over till that fat lady sings. And I watched Britain’s Got Talent yesterday and the old lady drummer was about as in tune as some of the tweeters. Chill

We'll see how keen Jose is on another CB based on reports of any last minute bids to sign alternatives in the next 36 hours or so. It'll speak volumes if we remain quiet rather than a trolly dash for a CB being thrown at us by another club.

We have a lot of CBs. Just not many left sided ones. I am surprised Ben Davies isn't tried there, potentially in a back three. Seems well made for that role.
