"The problem in this case is that Kovacic does not want to play at United, so the operation does not seem to come to fruition. The Croatian footballer is clear that he wants to leave Madrid to enjoy more minutes, but the style of Manchester does not fit and that is why he does not plan to attend the operation that has started the English team through the intermediary Vlado Lemic, which has been the one sent by United to try to carry out the operation.

Kovacic will join the preseason of Real Madrid in the coming days and insist on his idea of leaving, although Lopetegui will try to convince him that he can be an important player in the white team. The idea of Madrid is also to retain him, so the future of Kovacic will be one of the hottest cases of Real Madrid this summer."
With the rumors of Modrid leaving for Inter, there is no way they let him go. Think it’s all dependent on if that happens.

No way Modric leaves. Perez came out yesterday and said any team wanting him will have to pay his €750m release clause. What that means for Kovacic is anyone's guess but seems likely he or one of their CMs will leave to make way.

Florentino Perez has said that Modric isn't leaving RM, unless someone would pay his buy-out clause, which is about 700 million euros.

No idea why you're turning on me. You're assuming Poch wants Kovacic and Levy is going to fuck him over by not pursuing it.

Come on don’t back track now... you have rated “funny” or “spam” to almost every post I have seen that is not particularly positive. You appear to be the most chilled fan around. Good on ya, you are either far more wise than a lot of us or just refuse to accept the truth. Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough.

I can’t wait for the next week or so to be over. With only days to go... I honestly don’t know where your smug confidence is coming from but good on ya. I look forward to your input at the conclusion of this window.

He may just have taken the view that getting bent out of shape about something that has not yet been concluded isn't wise for a long and healthy life.

I don't think that's smug confidence at all. My advice has always been get worked up about things that have actually happened, not what you think might happen before a deadline when you have about a hundredth of the insight and understanding about what is actually going on.

(This following part is not aimed at you, this is just generally ...)

I worked on a deal for 5 months just doing the legals for a tenant taking a chunky building in London. 5 months. That asset doesn't even talk or have any say in the matter. Christ knows what is actually like negotiating a deal with an asset (and an agent) that has an opinion as well as a buyer and a seller! The heads of terms for that deal took 3 months to negotiate as well.

As Grey Fox said, those that think we start out transfer negotiations now just don't know how things work, but more often than not appear to be the loudest voices.

If we were actually in for Kovacic as the mystery CM, and end up missing out because ex-player Modric forces a move from Real Madrid to Inter Milan after winning the golden ball at the World Cup, that would be so ridiculously unlucky it's now nailed on to happen.

I would add to that, that yes don’t get bent out of shape until there is something to get bent out of shape about, but even then, what’s the point? Just because posters X and Y don’t like who we’ve signed, or think we should have signed player z, or think we haven’t signed enough players, doesn’t mean that the club share their view, and there is no way of knowing either way. Frankly, the only thing we as fans have an right to get bent out of shape about is of the performances on the pitch are unsatisfactory... and even then it’s subjective to a large degree.

I dont know about now, but his agent said we tried to get him last summer but he decided to stay and fight for his place. So one might assume we rate him and Poch rates him, or at least rated him last summer. Chelsea are trying to get Kante to stay with a new mega contract offer, if he does i dont see Chelsea going for Kovacic having already signed Jorginho. But who knows, if given up trying to understand this summers transfer activity.

I read that they want €100m for Modric and £80m for Kovacic. Yeah, 'decent prices'.

I’ve read the €750m price tag set by Real Madrid, obviously that’s ridiculous. If the price is €100 and he’s willing to come, I would not think twice about bringing him back. He helped take a decent Croatia team to World Cup finals and I think we’d have a very good chance winning something with him. So Yh I do think it’s a decent price and I’m not one for wasting money just for sake of new signing, but Modric would be well worth it.

You want to spend £80-90m on a 33-year old Modric? Really?
