Interesting. Naughton out for £5-6m, Richards in for £5-6m?
Richards has the pace/strength combo. As a FIFA player, you can't ask for anymore than that.

On a serious note, while I don't want us to sell Naughton, I would be happy if Richards was his replacement. Especially as he can play both LB and CB.

Naughton is good enough to be back up RB but he is not good enough to be number 1 RB. If he wants out then so be it.

As for Richards no thanks. Last thing we need is another brain dead defender.

Naughton is definitely a capable RB, but not a starter for us. If he's willing to be cover for Walker, then I'd love to keep him, but if he wants to start consistently, then he should go.

Yep, and I won't begrudge him the chance to cement a first team place elsewhere. Good defender in my eyes.

Gary Monk on Naughton

"We are looking at him [Naughton], but we're looking at a number of players. We're talking about a player who's with another club, so I don't want to disrespect anyone.

4m would be a decent price and we should take it of offered . Would like to see Fredericks given a few games in cup completions this year and if we sign lopes then naughton can go I feel

I'd actually want a little more than 4mil for Naughton. We're about to sell Falque for 4mil. and Naughton is a much more proven player, especially in this league, than Falque.

Knew we'd look to sell him, even though he's looked more solid in the last 3 friendlies, just can't rely on him.

Loving poch's work tbf.

Yep. He'll be a very solid RB for any mid-lower table club. I think we should hold out for about 5.5-6m, given the English premium.

It seems to me, and I apologise if I'm wide of the mark, but people are seemingly lambasting Naughton, and proclaiming he's not good enough because he makes too many mistakes, yet they are blatantly turning a blind eye to Kyle Walker & his constant brain-farts?

Seriously, Lennon has been doing his defending for him and digging him out of the shit on a game by game basis. Walker is a constant stream of stupid fouls on the edge of our box, constantly being out of position, screaming at every man and his dog when he has made a mistake yet is, on the whole, given a free ride by the majority because he can run fast.

I simply don't get it

Naughton may not be a world beater, but at least have a bit of consistency if you're going to be so quick to lay the boot into him.

For me it's about having another RB in a similar stye to Walker, him and Naughton are too chalk and cheese, main aim should be to tweak and balance the squad in MoPo's image, if Naughton doesn't fit then so be it.

Really? Personally I'd prefer to have another RB in a similar style to Seamus Coleman.

Obviously a less error prone version of Walker :)
Perhaps I worded it badly, because of the way we will set out playing high up we need backup fullbacks similar to the 1st choice, otherwise we end up changing how we play, Naughton very rarely takes his man on in the last 1/3rd.

I don't think either are good, however in Walkers favour he is stronger, faster and has a far better engine that Naughton

I'd be more than happy if we sold both, but it makes sense to get a starting place competitor in now and sell one then look for another player next season. I'd sell Naughton first.

Also I'd love to see Walker develop a football brain though that's a particularly unlikely event, however if he could combine his physical strengths with a good footballing brain he'd be a great player. Holding on to him for an extra years rather than Naughton makes more sense and should he finally start to develop as a footballer rather than just as an athlete we wouldn't need to look for a replacement

I agree that Naughton doesn't take the full back on but unlike Walker, Naughton can cross the ball.
