Kyle Naughton eyes Tottenham transfer because he wants to play at right-back again

"I want to be playing every single week. If I can’t hold down a first-team spot then I do have to look elsewhere" admits defender unable to unseat Kyle Walker

“I am 25 and there is a stage that you reach when you think, ‘Well, am I going to be No 1?’
"That is what I am looking for. I want to be playing every single week. I want to be playing regularly. I am not sure what is going to happen, but if I can’t hold down a first-team spot then I do have to look elsewhere.

“I am not going to lie - I am a right-back. That is the position I want to play in, but it has been difficult with Kyle Walker doing so well.”

I have to say, I would not be upset at all if he were to leave.

Naughton has a point and his time has come... good squad player but reached his ceiling with us. He should move on for first team football and best wishes to him.

I'd put Sigi in the same category and if we ever had a fit and functioning backline Dawson would be in this bracket too.

The problem is how would we replace 3 'home grown' players? There aren't many get-able ones who could seriously improve us

Buy young

Naughton with Sam Bryan. We also have Fredericks.

Can't blame him for wanting out. What player wants to stay at a club where the fans hate him and he's scapegoated every time he plays?
I hope he gets regular football at a mid table team.

Tried to break through at Spurs, lost out to the better player in Walker.
Time to move on as the next generation is ready to take up a fresh challenge with the established first choice.
Ryan Fredericks time to give it a go, Alexander McQueen the next after that.
Sell and add the money to our left back budget.
Kyle Naughton is a decent player, will do well at other Premier League teams below us, time to move for his career's sake

Promote Fredericks and add the Naughton money to the Sigurdsson/Defoe/Ekotto/Dawson/Rose money and buy Defenders.

Everything he does at this club is always deemed by some fans as awful. He is a right back who has been forced to supplement the left ever since he broke into the first team. When he plays on the right, he isn't a bad squad player, seen where he kept Konoplyanka seemingly quiet on Thursday.

He could play at a Villa, Norwich, Stoke type team easily, and if that's the case then I wish him well, even if the majority of you hate him, he has been mistreated by the club ever since he joined.

He's done alright for us, certainly don't think he deserves hate from anyone. Wish him all the best if he moves on.

This, along with a quality LW, and we should have a nice and decently settled squad come next season.

Hes played well recently when he's been at RB. There's a pathetic hate for him by many on here

People raving about Konoplyanka, but naughton has just defended more than capably against him twice

Time for him to go, we gotta now find a cheap english RB to replace him. Not going to be particularly easy

Yeah. I think Levy will drag this to hell, though. What he should do is take the first 4-6m offer that comes through and move on towards other business. Instead, he will likely ask for 10m and we will have him stuck on our wage bill for the rest of the season.

Walker's current injury is probably the longest he's been out in three seasons. He has the ability to play 50+ games a year. With this in mind I think we'd be okay with a young player as cover, or a 4th choice CB who can also play the position.

A real shame that Adam Smith never pushed on. We didn't really give him the chance.

Very true. I am not the biggest KN fan but he is a decent RB and a great option for when the other Kyle needs a break. Also people forget that Walker and Naughton are extremely close, Walker views Naughton as a big brother who helped him adjust to being a pro when he was younger. I say we keep them together because that can only help.

Good god. Based on today's performance, I'm very happy for him to go. And Fryers can go with him.

problem is he does nothing in an attacking sense and although a decent defender is nothing special, he stirkes me as an alround ok defender, but just not what we need,
