I'm replying in the player thread to avoid A&C's ?

I really don't think that Josh King is the sort of out and out striker that we need. We need a specialist front man.
Agreed! We're better off with Bale or Son upfront than King, and already have a wealth of options for the wide forward positions (Son, Bale, Moura, Berwijn, Lamela, Sess, Dele).

If it means we need to spend more on a striker, then we should allocate funds for that player, rather than a centre back.

Skriniar is a very good player, but I'm sure there are other really good defenders who won't cost as much and could allow us to get our top striker targets.

Is Josh King a good enough striker option for where we want to be?
He'd be a great signing for a mid-table team like Burnley, Southampton etc, but I'm not sure he's what we need.

I'm not saying he isn't a decent player and he could do a job for us, I just think we need to aim higher and we have been with several of our targets .
I agree that Josh King isn't what we need, but why should we invest less in a starting CB to allow us to spend more on a back-up striker? That weakens our starting XI in order to strengthen our bench.

Toby can't play twice per week and appears to be in decline. Dier + Sanchez as a pair lack experience and are prone to mistakes. We need to sign a dependable first-choice CB to partner Dier / Sanchez. Toby can then be phased out (over this season and next) and Foyth can be moved on. Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga can develop alongside Toby + new CB, to become the long-term future of our defence.

Whoever we sign as a sub CF, they will never be a regular part of the starting XI while Kane is around, and they will quickly fall behind Son/Bale as back-up CF if they struggle for form without regular starts (as per Janssen and Llorente). Long-term, hopefully Parrott will live up to our hopes, to become our back-up and eventually starting CF.

The danger of saying we can sign a championship striker if we don’t get someone else in before the end of the week is there may not be any championship strikers left by that time!

I think ValenciaYid has just indicated that Josh King might be the one we're going for.

Earlier this morning he posted "Wishful thinking" in response to a shortlist of possible striker targets, and just now added "Clearly no Go West fans in here?????" - a reference to Go West's song "King of Wishful Thinking"

Has he been injured? He's only played 20 odd minutes in the last few games from what I can see

Christ, it's like you're being given a hazing. Thanks for the info gathering ?
He’s also mentioning now that he’s had the name for a few days but it’s not a definitive, just a likely/could be which he’s generally not as comfortable sharing.
