Think we need to calm down. Everton wasn't that long ago. We set ourselves up for this every time. The international break has come at the worst time especially with the momentum we were building. I'm more confident of top 4 and a cup win than I was a few weeks ago though.

You are right we do get carried away incredibly easily. Most seasons we have a hot spell and a dry spell, the trick will be to see whether Mourinho can grind out wins when we are shit.

At this stage and considering I’ve been a fan since I can remember, I’d take winning over anything else on the pitch.

nothing less tbh, I want to see spurs win titles and trophies.
Can't agree with this more. There's so much frustration built up over the years. I saw us lift the FA Cup in 1991, the League Cup in 1999 and 2008, but it's not enough. In '91 we'd won the FA Cup more times than anyone else, in '08, only Liverpool and Villa had won the League Cup more than us.

People who'd been watching longer than me had seen us triumphant on a regular basis - that's what Spurs are supposed to be. We are a massive, massive club. This isn't me saying we should be winning every year. That's just being self-entitled. But we should always, always be a challenger for honours. A club of our size, of our history, of our pedigree should never, never be an also-ran. There has been too much of that in recent years - where shock exits from cups haven't actually been all that shocking.

My hope, my burning desire is that that fundamental shift is real and not just my imagination. That a sea-change is in train at the moment - one that wakes us again. Like Man U under Ferguson - a sleeping giant that became the world's biggest club for a time. I want Spurs to once again be a club whose name is on the lips of every football fan around the world.

We will lose more games this year, we will play defensive football too, but I’m absolutely convinced we will be greatly improved from the OST two seasons where we shipped goals galore and racked up lots of loses.

win, whatever it takes.

Well I am presuming that's what we brought him in for, hes a past master at that. I am just hoping that what we have seen recently is what we hopefully see the majority of the time, and just grind out the points when we hit poor form/injuries

I know exactly where you're coming from, Alex - it's the underlying fear, almost terror, born out of the countless false dawns we've all been through.

Santini! We're going to win everything! Gone in weeks.

Ramos! Look what he did in Seville! We're going to win everything! Gone in months

AVB! Mourinho's disciple! We're going to win everything! Gone in months

That trickle of terror, of cyncism runs deep and you can understand why. How many times have we felt that things were about to change, but then didn't. Ironically, it was the managers who came in without fanfare that really drove us forward - Jol, Redknapp, Poch.

My hope (ha!) is that this time it's different. Because I've had enough of being sneered at by fans who think my club is irrelevant. I want us to relevant them all a new arsehole.

Carried away too easy and in the depths of despair waaaay to easy.

We're only a couple of bad results away from the Mourinho bashing to resume and a relegation thread being started

One minute up, the next down. Diplomatically, I can't remember what it's called now.

This - whilst watching Kane bang them in and Son dribble past 7 outfield players to score, Aurier's goal against Man Utd was the one that I enjoyed the most watching. Slicing teams open with quick, incisive passing.
When RB and LB are scoring, it is a sign of great team play for me. And I absolutely love our full backs scoring. Best times of Poch were like this. And I reckon we will see more of Doherty, Aurier and Reguilon scoring.

Davies, erm, maybe not.

FWIW, Davies would have scored at Plovdiv but for the intentional handball at the goal line.

When Mourinho was appointed I was really pissed off and didn't want him at all. He'd always been an arrogant twat whose success was built on massive spending and a large amount of shithousing, so I was very skeptical.

Early days he had us playing some of the very worst football I've ever seen from a Spurs team and to my mind, persisted with the wrong players and tactics. The start of this season didn't give a huge amount of optimism either. I had no idea why he had Hojbjerg chasing the ball around whilst leaving Winks as the shielding player, and he was persisting with 2 in CM when it seemed blatantly obvious to me we needed 3 in there. When he did start using 3 in CM we bossed games, but would then revert back to 2.

To start with he didn't seem to like LoCelso which completely baffled me and seemed intent on driving Ndombele out of the club. Not happy at all. Sissoko and Winks were the default midfield pairing.

Suddenly though, it seems that multiple pennies have dropped. We have Hojbjerg playing as an orthodox DM (and doing it very well). We have GLC starting whenever fit, we have Ndombele back in the fold. We've just had a truly remarkable transfer window without breaking the bank and we now have proper squad depth that will allow us to rotate and compete on multiple fronts.

Most of all, I'd say Mourinho's personality revamp has quite shocked me. No more of the arrogant twat I so despised, but an amenable and engaging character who gives 100% to the club. Long may it continue. It seems, contrary to my initial belief, that he can work with Daniel Levy within a realistic budget. I'm now happy (at least until we line up with a CM2 again).

Quite right, expect Leicester fans were exactly same after putting in 5 against Man City, then look what happened but hopefully with various options from midfield supporting Harry, Sonny , Bale etc we can go on from this and compete.

That first chelsea team he inherited. He soon got rid of Robben & Duff. Couldn’t wait to get them out the door ?

That’s not how I remember it?

Robben was pretty much a fixture but Duff unfortunately was very injury prone.

When Duff was fit they were beautiful in tandem.

I've always appreciated his personality - obsessed, intelligent, narcissistic, moody when thing don't go his way, charismatic, a winner by nature and an excellent motivator, exactly the kind of manager who will win silverware for you. I hated the fact that he won multiple titles with Chelsea, but have never hated him, he is exactly what we need now.

I have been Jose supporter since he walked into the job. So, most of what I see now is not a surprise till now. But he did surprise me in couple of occasions - especially in formation. I thought he will never move away from back4 - but this week, he did play Back 3 and wingback , which I thought he will never go for.

Jose usually picks 1 XI and sticks to it. This week, where there were numerous games, he has masterfully chopped & changed the team and its formation. He picked horses for courses - with Sissoko,Aurier,Sanchez combo for the pacy forward line of United , while previous game, picked steady players like Toby, Winks, GLC.

Jose knows what he is doing. There are so many games coming up for everyone. I am confident, we have the best manager in league who knows how to play through these fixtures and maintain the quality. Improvement in squad is only going to help him. If we dont have injuries like last season, this settled squad of us will comfortably finish in top4

Of course. But the other 3 are more attacking minded than Davies, that's what I meant, and I see them scoring as a higher possibility than Davies.

But in essence, Mourinho definitely has a great impact with the improvement of our retaining full backs as well as signing their upgraded competitive counterparts.

It wont even take that long.
The next game we're not winning by half time this thread will see the usual suspects out licking their lips.
Like clockwork.

I must admit, there are one or two people who have been very quiet, if not totally silent for the last two or three weeks.

I won't get carried away and start believing we can win the league this season, but I have been a fan of Jose's appointment from the start and he has only strengthened my belief that this squad is going places, with him in charge.

Yes it would have been heavily edited, but the Amazon Documentary painted him brilliantly and you keep hearing current players coming out backing Jose, discussing how good he is.

This is a fantastic squad we have now, Jose said a squad is a puzzle and he has done a brilliant job with the backing of the board to ensure we have competition in every spot on the field. The teams below just go to show how good the squad is with some players not even featuring in either 11. The guy is a winner, I genuinely don't think he's past it and ITK mentioned when he was appointed that they were impressed behind the scenes at his new approach and vision for the team.

The guy did a great job last season after inheriting a bit of a mess if we are honest and this summer's transfers have given us a great opportunity to win something under him.

Lloris

Doherty Sanchez Dier Reguilon

Hojbjerg Lo Celso
Ndombele

Bale Kane Son

or....

Hart

Aurier Toby Tanganga Davies

Sissoko Winks
Lamela

Lucas Vinicius Bergwijn

Those teams are obviously only my opinion but the following players don't even appear in either....

Gazza
CCV
Gedson
Dele (I just don't see where he fits)
