But in all seriousness, Jose is paid to win football matches and he uses everything in his power to do that. He is the absolute master of getting under the skin of opposing teams and managers (think Martin o Neil and Celtic in Europa League final). In whatever way he can he uses press conferences to get teams riled, put pressure on and make people frustrated.

Before he joined us I used to love it when we beat his teams because it worked, I was a bit like Keegan, I always lost it as a fan.

I also admired it, it's very clever indeed, if somewhat distasteful at times.

Yet, people that meet him and players that play for him, say he is nothing like that in person. He is compassionate and encouraging and funny. The point is, none of us know his personality really. Everything he does in the media is a presentation of himself for the public eye and oftentimes is presented with the goal of winning football matches.

So the poster is kinda right. Oh and it's not psuedo psychology, there's a long history in that field of studying the difference between how we present ourselves in public and how this is different from who we are (or claim to be) E.g. how we act at home with friends and how we act at work, or on football forums :)

I really hope this isn’t all uncovered in the Amazon documentary as it really will blow a hole in one of his positives.

How does Dele fit into this team now? Do people think Mourinho will bring him back in?
I wouldn't be surprised if JM looked at with as Dele as back up striker, strong in the air, can play with back to goal, got that edge to niggle CB's, eye for goal. Would it take much to convert? If Chris Sutton can switch from CB to a striker, surely JM & Sacramento can do the same with Dele?

I did not like him I did not want him but to be honest I find myself liking him mainly because he never lets anybody get away with saying anything derogatory about us without a reply that has an edge that seems to say " dont fuck with me or my club " Every manager we have had except may be Redknapp seemed to take criticism without reply and with good grace .
I like his attitude and I think he is trying to install a similar attitude in the players and for me it seems he is getting across to the players this dogged determination and with a few additions I am exited for next season .
It is a long time since I have been able to relax when being in the lead its as tho we get in front and we won't lose and for those that dont like the style of play all I can say is that we have scored some fantastic goals in the last three games and in the future a bit of panache will be seen when playing the weaker teams .
I am sick to death of outplaying teams only to get beaten which has been the case far too often in our recent past .
But as with Real Madrid / Chelsea / Inter / Jose will be pragmatic when required against the teams in and about them but more attacking with the lesser teams it all seems quite sensible to me .

It's crazy that this little renaissance has come over only 2 weeks, which is such a long time in post-covid football. Prior to that it looked like we had no clue whatsoever other than hoofing it, so it's good to see that he's got a response from the players. Even if it's not tiki-taka possession football, seeing our players work to a game plan that emphasises their strengths again is more heartening.

It's good to see that he's top 4 since he arrived, although we should also take that in the context of the low points totals this year, the disruption that forced every club into joining us as a basket case, and, dare we say it, the fact that for some fans 4th + CL final last year was deemed a failure.

If we beat Palace then we can end the year on a relatively positive note, and the ball gets put into baldy's shiny court once more as it will certainly be clearer to Mourinho what this squad of players can and cannot do.

I think this is spot on, Jose is a good guy but as a football manager he's a ruthless winner and a clever c*** and a b****** ;)

Man.City did the documentary and proceeded to win the title again the following season. Leeds did it with the big spygate stuff with Bielsa and then now the following season they've won the league to be promoted again, Juve did it and won the league the following season, so what i'm saying is it'll all be fine and we are guarenteed to win the league next year ;)

November 2013

Manchester City 6-0 Tottenham Hotspur

December 2013

Tottenham Hotspur 0-5 Liverpool

Behave yourself.

We also lost 5-1 to City, 4-0 to Liverpool, and 4-0 to Chelsea later that same season :(

It took me a while to get over the feeling we were going to be absolutely Wigan'd every time we came up against Liverpool/City.

That was a dark time going into those games knowing we had 0 chance and it was just would be lose by more than 3-0 or could we keep it to 3-0 so it was marginally respectable. The away game against Man.City when they scored after about 2 minutes was particularly tough to endure.

Makes our win against them by parking our white bus this time around even more impressive.
COYS.

I was thinking about transfers and Mourinho and Levy etc after reading this report by A Gold last week and I think it is pretty much on the money as to how we will operate this summer and what is going on behind the scenes. Mourinho seems to be making it very easy for Levy and now it really is up to him to deliver. I don't think I have ever seen Mourinho speak like this before, certainly not in England and it is a very different mindset to what he had at Man U were he didn't feel Woodward had his back on transfers. If Levy doesn't this window, then I really believe he is asking for trouble. It seems he wants a level of honesty in his job, which Levy has to deliver on. If he doesn't with Mourinho then I don't know where we turn under this ownership because there is nowhere else.

Here are some quotes:

Jose Mourinho says he knows exactly what is required at Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer window and what is realistic and admits he sends detailed reports to those in the club so they are well aware.

Mourinho is keen to make a few key tweaks to his squad to provide more balance, with the likes of Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and South Korean international centre-back Kim Min-jae, who plays for Chinese side Beijing Guoan, among those on their list of young transfer targets.

"What needs to be done? First of all is to be realistic," he said. "I know where the best players in the world are. I can, not here, but if we sit together having a coffee I can give you a shortlist of the best players in the world per position. For some it is easier to do it. For others it is more difficult because that is not realistic so the most important thing is to be realistic.
"Is to analyse the market opportunities, to analyse the clubs that are willing to sell, to analyse the player that is in the end of his contract or the last year of his contract and where the club is ready to try to have some kind of creative deals.

"That is a different profile so I know exactly what we need. I know exactly what I would like and how to be realistic and no problems at all.
"The club also knows me a little bit better now than before. I think, only Mr Levy can say it, but I think it is very easy to work with me because I am very open, I am very pragmatic.
"I like to write it. I like to do my periodical reports to the club analysing the situation, the different situations, project the future so with me everything is written.
"It’s not like to tell on the phone and the next day you run away from what you said and you deny. With me, not at all so I think it is quite easy to work with me in that direction and when I am respectful and realistic we are fine because we understand each other."
