Unless you're blinded by your pre-set opinion of Jose, I don't understand how you can't see the improvements he's made.
Yes, we're far from perfect but we're finding shape, organisation and becoming hard to beat. I'd love to see us tearing teams apart but I'm more than happy with controlling games and winning them.

People are again forgetting how bad we were under the previous manager at the end and at the same time think that this will be the standard level of performance going forward.

I don't think he has. He had the best squad in the league at Chelsea, Madrid (1st equal), Inter and Porto. Only at Man U did he not, a team which also don't play on the back foot and it was a turgid, grinding affair of attrition. Interestingly he alienated the club record signing in the process.

Also Fergie, shankly, paisley didn't fail in the end but I take your point. My next question is whether Poch had reached his natural end or did the failure to address the recruitment needs in the squad make his end inevitable.

The single best defensive coach can't shore up our knackered back line. So the question is really should we have hired a defensive manager or provided the previous one with better defenders?

Mate, he won the CL with Porto at a time when sides like Milan, Juve, Depor and Man U were near their peak. and six years later he won again the CL with Inter after defeating in the semis to what many consider the best team of all time. Yeah, he definitely doesn't need to have the best squad to win it all.

Just read that we have more PL points than anyone else apart from Liverpool and Man C since Jose was appointed. I.e. if the season started the week he was appointed we’d be third now. That seems surprising!

Everyone has been dropping points.
Hopefully he is changing the mentality and we are getting the results.

I hope he can sort out CM for next season.
Then see if we can control games and get the ball moving quicker.

Slightly misleading stat, we had a lot of very tough away fixtures at the start of the season.
The "home" games where we would have thrived having fans being in the stadium need to be factored in too. We've played United, West Ham, Everton and Arsenal at an empty home ground since the return, which isn't easy.

The last couple of games have allayed my fears after Bournemouth.

Mourinho PPG now up to 1.71, for first 12 league games under Poch it was 1.17. I know we've signed Bergwijn since, but considering we've played 8 games without Kane and 3 games without both Kane and Son, that's an impressive and undeniable improvement in results. My maths is terrible but I believe on PPG that's a 46% improvement.

That PPG extrapolated puts us in 3rd place on 61/62 points.

I really think not many teams would envy their task going one goal down to us. Our shape defensively, Jose has started to leave his imprints. Something solid to built upon next season.

Agree.
I still get a bit nervous when teams attack as we’re not invincible but it’s nearly the least nervous I’ve been when we go ahead watching spurs since forever, sure we sacrifice a little enjoyment in the play but we benefit from less stress when we go ahead and also the more it happens and the more of a Jose team we become the harder and harder teams will find it. It’s almost like the opposite of peps teams, when you go 1-0 down vs city you think oh god game over this will be 3/4-0 and vs peak Jose teams when you go 1-0 down it’s like oh god well that’s game over then as they’re going to shit up shop, make it impossible for us to score or create any chances, theyll kill the rhythm of the game and then probably nick another on the break when we over commit.

lets get used to this new style and new spurs and keep getting behind it.

I've been a Jose defender, but I'm not going to pretend today was all that good. Definitely sharpened up in the second half when I think GLC was switched around a bit with Sissoko. You can see there is intent with some of the forward passing, but it's breaking down when we get to the last touch as some of our players struggle to figure out where and when to release the ball.
Yea room for improvement but we did score 3 !!!

We need 1 more attacker, a playmaker of sorts. Someone like Eriksen was before he had his head turned by delusions of Madrid.

I'd argue that it's almost a priority this summer.

Had the Man City v Bournemouth game while trying to find a decent stream for our game, I think Brooks should be on our radar, still such a classy player. Bournemouth will definitely need to sell and might be not much competition for him as he’s just come back from that long lay off. I think he has the potential to be as influential as Grealish and much cheaper I would think.

It’s almost like people feel they are cheating on Poch by saying good things about Mourinho. We were utter tripe for a year under Poch and amassed 25 points from 24 league games while crashing out of the cup to Colchester etc etc.

Mourinho has come in, is the third best manager in the league in that time and has stopped us conceding a huge amounts of goals.
