Another thing that’s probably already been said but I’ll say it again. We have arrived at Mourinho as our manager on our own terms. We didn’t have a shiekh or an oil baron and we aren’t yet an Uber club. Yet here we are with a manager who is delighted to be here that has won 20 major trophies and a number 9 that will, under his tutelage and started by our previous legend, will become the best we have had in our history. That’s still as romantic to me. We punched over our weight and now we have managed to get ourselves in a position to be the heavyweight without the shortcuts.
Agree but one of the main contributor was Poch.

What did Levy build? He built the stadium. The rest was mostly Poch, specially after a whole season without signings. He set up the whole club under the same football phylosophy. That will be destroyed with Mourinho
I don't know what will happen, but we could def be worse that what we are now. United is a mess after Mourinho.

Re the bolded part. It could be that, or it could also be that Mourinho is past his best and his pull is significantly lower.
I think it's a bit of both. We certainly gained popularity with the CL final, but we are not a major force.

Mate, have you seen us play recently? The league position and form doesn't lie, and it's been that way for nearly a year, and there were no signs of improvement under Poch. United may be a bit of a mess now but whilst JM was there they won 2 trophies and finished 2nd in the league. They then hired a poor manager and they are still above us in the league right now.

As for Levy, his methods are infuriating and he's made some shocking decisions down the years, but the fact is that the club has been on a (slow) upwards trajectory since he took over. Poch clearly had a huge part to play, but so did Jol, Redknapp, Modric, Berbatov, VDV, Bale, Kane etc. The Poch era ran its course and now its time to try and take the next step.

Enjoyed his first interview.

Actually it's a bit mental hearing Jose fucking Mourinho talk about being Spurs manager.

And then saying stuff like how we are too humble about stuff. He's not bullshitting either, he's always spoken well about us. Let's be honest since Levy tried to get him in 2007 Jose has known that if we get big enough for him, he'd love to come here.

Not going to lie got a little bit of a spine tingle watching that and hearing his voice talking about us.

It's either genuine excitement or my motor neurone disease is kicking up a notch. Either way exciting times ahead.
Dispite myself I got a twinge of excitement.

You can see from the video of training on Twitter that he’s going to pick Dele and get the best from him. Excited to see our squad motivated again. Watching him feel up Harry seemed a bit weird though. ?

Theres a bloke on COYS saying he will support spurs but not Mourhino .
Well am I dim in believing that when you support the club you support the manager as they are joined at the hip .
I cannot get my head round this I am not a big fan of Mourhino but he will have my 100% support because he is the spurs manager and we all need to pull together at times like we are experiencing now .
I hope we don't have too many with this view otherwise he will be starting with a negative vibe .

Haha, in a crying-shame kind of way:

No money for an overhaul? I imagine that's a reason Poch left. He was expecting masses of new players, with no incoming transfer fees. At the same time, saying that the ones we already signed would need two seasons.

The new man was always going to have to work with what he had initially. Hoping the squad is effectively 3/4 bigger now looking forward, with less disruption.

Eh. JJ said he expected Poch to be backed in January. Obviously he was wrong about that but I don’t think he’d have said it if there were genuinely no money to spend. We need to present this image for the sake of building up the players who are here currently as well as making it clear we won’t be held to ransom by clubs who think we’ll be desperate to give Jose new signings in January.

Lots of patting on the backs and embracing the players. Obviously it’s only the start, but you can just tell the players all respect Mourinho. Who wouldn’t respect one of the most successful and proven managers of all time? You are going to listen and take notice of a manager of that pedigree.

So am I right? We are now in the same bracket as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Inter Milan? Is that how it works?

That money was probably spent on the compensation and Jose's contract.

I have to admit that back in August when ValenciaYid alluded to what has happened
Dude, ValenicaYid was bang on the money but he was a full day behind me. I broke this story on SC.
25th of August
Pochettino's last season.
I followed up on the 26th of August with among others this:
Mourinho is already an admirer of our supposed best 11, and funnily enough, I always thought the two of them would have a natural way of understanding one-another. Most of the reasons against hiring him are just fictitious blah blah blah and not rooted in facts.
He has the profile, the track record and the self confidence that fits a top 4 club, and his style of arrogance in the media is at the very least fun, not just sour.

So as you can see, everybody else started posting only after I started it off :p:smug:

Thanks, i wasn't sure if they were standin's from the u21's or something

At the start of the clip it looks like they are shaking hands with everybody so I would assume these are the new guys.

Duncan Castles said in a pod that Mourinho had the Lille guys on alert so that they would be ready to travel to London on short notice and have their first training.
