Saw 3 pages had been added and thought something significant had happened.

FFS

But the release clause is only 3 pages, the selling club doesn't have to accept it if another fan forum has 5 pages, they will get priority.... :cautious: :sneaky: right?! ....

I think you've fallen behind the conversation.

But no one would pay £45M man. Can you give an example of anytime in the history of release clauses when someone has bid more than the clause?

just to help the rest of us get your point?
Didn’t the Gooners offer £1 more than the Suarez release clause? That worked out well for them (thankfully).

I think they ‘thought’ there was a release clause… but it actually didn’t exist! Which made them look even more stupid ?

Do release clauses have to be met in full ie someone would have to put £43m down in one lump sum to activate it or do they get to negotiate payment terms. If so would the club would then only have to accept the bulk payment?

Can you please take this discussion elsewhere?

It's a good job I've not been near a keyboard today or I could have booked you all silly with football accountancy and transfer practice......I do a fascinating lecture on VAT recovery and Karen Brady's turn in the VAT tribunal, how amortisation brings a profit on Janson, indexation, Deli Ali and discount factoring the time cost of money, normal payment structures vs Daniel levy payment structures.......I guarantee you'd be enthralled! :cautious: :shifty:

Quite simply, if anyone offers the release clause fee, the selling club are obliged legally to accept it. The player is then offered terms by whichever clubs meet the fee and he then decides if he wants to move to that club or not. If not he stays as is still under contract. Any number of clubs could offer the release amount and the player can speak to them all and accept which ever one he is happiest with, or just stay where he is.
Admire your patience @Trix ?

Wasn’t the release clause actually a bid over 40m and Arsenal tried to be clever and just bid £1 over?
or as you say there wasn’t a clause at all?

I can’t believe that @Trix has had to fucking explain how a buy out clause works multiple times. Fucking hell, I have zero clue how he and others put up with posting here sometimes. The fucking state of some of you cock wranglers.

On this lad, it does sound like RB don’t want to sell but equally that his agent is putting the word out. From the little I’ve seen he looks very good. It will certainly be interesting to see how fluid the situation becomes if we manage to address our other gaps in the squad with cheaper players.

It wasn’t a release clause, it was an agreement he could go if someone bid that but it wasn’t binding I believe. Then arsenal pissed off Liverpool so much that they refused to negotiate

Yeah agreed, if his agent is putting the feelers out then maybe gvardiol wants to go which could force leibzig hand

If City want him that will be that, either this summer or next.

I was literally saying this two days ago when some posters were like, oh it's ok if we don't sign a top CB this summer if we are planning on waiting to sign Gvardiol next summer.

We aren't going to sign Gvardiol. He will have much bigger clubs in for him. Surprise surprise, City want him too. I really hate that club. They are playing Football Manager.

Also can't believe Chelsea are giving City 90 odd million for Sterling and Ake.

Yeah, I also found that a little fanciful. Waiting til next summer is what clubs with unlimited funds and pull do. We aren’t that rn. In fact thinking so far ahead when our manager and best player are under lock for such a short time is risky,
