UEFA don't force people to drink alcohol from 8am. That's on the fans themselves. If you feel you need to be drinking from that early to get excited and ready for a football match then you may have a problem. I've never understood it myself.

As for work, it's one day. Most places have sanctioned off days and late starts. Wouldn't put it past Boris to sanction a bank holiday if it happens. But if you can't get up the next morning due to a hangover after drinking for the whole day that's on you and not UEFA for deciding the KO time. You could just call in sick. I guarantee most up and down the country will do so anyway.
So there is no celebration time allowed at all?
Once it’s over its straight to bed?
My kids still have school at 8am and I was told could start an hour later but must work on an extra hour to make up for it.
I have friends who w been told if they don’t make it in tomorrow this will be looked into.
No idea why it couldn’t be played on a Saturday or 5pm today.

The first mistake there is the English school system not breaking up for summer holidays before late July, what the hell is that about? Kids lose more than half of the warmest month of the year when every other nation is on holiday.

Very strange feeling for me as an italian supporter that has lived in uk since birth. For years the 2 nations have avoided eachother at the later stages on competitions which has been good for me but it seems today is finally the day.

Will be an interesting match. Italy look to press high and so there will be alot of focus on the 2 england cb's and pickford. If england break the press and manage to play around that then they will have chances a plenty to use the pace of their counter attack. Belgium look to play through italys press and broke free a couple of times to release kdb but even when they went long to lukkaku the italian cbs sniffed him out. Spain were better than italy because the are the most press resistant team in football and therefore nulify italy.
The first 70mins or penalties is the only way for italy to win this. England will be too physically dominant and youthful after 70mins and so italy need a lead to see out.

Will be interesting to see if/how nerves play a part. Italy's strength will lie in the mind and in matchplay whereas england will be on pace and power, better squad and of course a big home advantage.

I support italy and want them to triumph although there is at least some comfort in seeing Kane lift the trophy if victorious.

Well this thread is turning out to be as joyous as tooth ache. If I didn't have to drop the kids back for 6pm I'd be on the wheatabix and peroni already!

Lighten up if you're English, or a neutral and enjoy a somewhat rare occasion !

I'd imagine a lot of the scheduling is to avoid clashes with events like Wimbledon.

Good points we'll made. I think England will look to do similar in exploiting the lack of pace Italy have at the CB potions. They aren't slugs, but Spain played through a few times, it was just fortunate they can't hit a barn door with a banjo. Main difference vs England, is that England have the afterburners In pace. Counter to that is the Italian experience at dealing with it. It will be a fascinating encounter.

I am looking forward to seeing what counter Gareth has for the CM. And in keeping Barella quiet and starving Chiesa of service. Can't afford to give the latter and shooting opportunities!

Likewise, how Italy set up to deal with sterling. I'm expecting Harry to drop deep to be playmaker. (Much to my irritation).

Yes those are very valid points. England will know with far more certainty what too expect from italy but england do have more of a wildcard factor.

The 3v3 in the cm area will be decisive to determine who has the stronghold on the match.

Like to take this opportunity to moan about the ko time.
So who thinks its a good idea to have it on a Sunday when the majority have to get up for work in the morning? No one other than those who make the decision.
Who thinks its a good idea to make ko at 8pm so fans can have a whole day drinking and then inevitably cause loads of trouble when their team loses? Its gonna happen. I'm expecting hooligan headlines if England lose.
So dumb you couldn't make it up.
So dumb that if you asked anyone with common sense whats the worst possible ko time you could come up with, this would be the kiddy.

Plus what about those kids that want to watch it?

I am sure they are usually a 5 or 6 o’clock start.

Probably to avoid clashing with Wimbledon?

I doubt the kick off time has much - if anything - to do with Wimbledon. On Men’s Final day there can’t be huge numbers in attendance at SW19 and the main event is over by 5pm. The 8pm kick off time will be entirely driven by advertising revenues. The later you get into Sunday evening the less competition there is for viewing figures so advertising revenues soar with zero consideration for the fans of the two teams competing. Same old shit from UEFA.

Re getting time off work, while every industry is different I know my employer encouraged leave requests to be granted late on Friday so with support from the government I think a lot of ppl will be ok in that sense.

The bad news is that my eldest and my ex have both got the 'rona.
The good news is that the other 2 have tested negative and are staying with me but because of their brother, they don't have to go to school tomorrow (or the whole of next week)

Late night tonight for us, with hopefully some celebrating.
