It astounds me how many people would replace Hugo with bang average keepers. Krul and Marshall? FFS. This is Hugo Lloris. Aim higher.

When I hear people saying they think we can replace players like Lloris or Verts I just facepalm. Every single top player we've sold has taken us about 18 months to replace, in terms of quality in that position.

We have to hold every single one of our best players this summer. Tell them straight away, we're not selling anyone, we have massive ambition and a big manager is coming in. Put the shit season behind us and get psyched for next year, we're going places

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Agreed.....just pointing out that you can get a solid GK (probably better than Marshall at Cardiff) without breaking the bank....Patiricio, Mandanda and Sommer (you can throw Muslera in that group as well) would probably be the most expensive and none would break the bank (granted Patricio and Manadanda may be difficult for other reasons) but you could get the likes Begovic, Krul, Vorm at a lower price and probably less of a headache negotiating.
I imagine most supporters would prefer to see the money spent on a quality LB.

It's not even pre season and the false dawn optimism is evident already, prepare to be let down, it's easier that way

We always sell our best players, always have and with a stadium to finance if it ever gets built means no chance of that changing any time soon

Yeah we know that but you should be posting this to Mr D Levy c/o Tottenham Hotspur fc and see how you get on.

I think it would be an extremely poor financial decision and therefore unlikely Levy see's it different to I do. Suppose the whole evil money grabbing genius persona is true and Levy wants to make the most money out of the club and sell up. For that to work he'd need us to be competing with the big boys when the stadium comes online.

Lol I can hope anyway

Few Young Choices:

Perin
-is going to be Italy's number 1 once Buffon steps down (will likely take spot instead of Sirigu)
-has said he wants to stay at Genoa, but money always talks.
-would likely be available for £12-15m

Scuffet
-17 years old, and already making big saves at Udinese
-a step below some other choices, but he would be the youngest option
-I expect him to be cheaper, around £8m or so.

Rulli
-at 21 years old, he has already broken his club's (Estudiantes) record of not conceding for 6 and 1/2 games
-he is the most like-for-like keeper to Lloris (that I've put here)
-he is drawing attention from many bigger clubs, including Barcelona and Man City
-I wouldn't know how to value him, but he would probably be the cheapest option here

What about Diego Lopez from Madrid, Surely Casillas will some day move into the starting 11 and Lopez will be free to leave.

and we have a partnership with Madrid which means we get first dibs on any of their players.

We all hope he doesn't sell but that will be asking for too much as it would be a first however we have seen with other teams like Liverpool if you keep your best players what you can achieve.
We have to stop keep bending over when teams come calling all the time if we ever want to actually try and be successful.

Let's hope we learn from this season. Integrating 7 new players has not been achieved yet. Arguably only Eriksen has been fully integrated. And we still don't have a quality LB , a solid partner for Vertonghen , any real back up keeper and our strikers have no pace, with our best one extremely temperamental. So we want to compound these problems by selling Vertonghen and Lloris ? If we started with :
New keeper
Walker New CD, New CD, New LB,
Paulinho Capoue
Lamela Eriksen Chadli
New Striker

Then only 1 of those players was there last season. It would be madness for us to sell Lloris or Vertonghen. We have enough lack of continuity to deal with already.

It's not that type of arrangement they buy our best players whenever they decide that's the deal.

Had convinced myself Hugo is off but when I think about it I can't think of any big clubs that would be prepared to spend 20 mill and need a keeper. If Valdes leaves Barca he will be higher on shopping list for a big team, as cheaper option. Plus one of Cech to Courtois available I would have thought.

Only 2 I can think of are PSG and Monaco but can't see why he would go back to France when he has already won everything. Plus, am sure I read they are happy with current keepers.

Atletico will need a keeper but wont't spend that kind of money.

Not sure of Italian clubs situation these days but again they don't seem to have the cash over there.

I hope Lloris stays but wouldn't be surprised if he went this summer

I like Jack Butland if Lloris was to move on to PSG

I thought it was a really strange move for Butland to go to Stoke when Begovic was there, makes me think that there was some sort of agreement that Begovic would be moving this summer.

Barca definitely in the market for a keeper, they are the big danger to us keeping Hugo, other than that what big club are in urgent need of a goalkeeper, discounting Arsenal of course?

PSG have Sigiru who isn't exactly a poor keeper, so they have no real NEED for Hugo other than it would be a fantastic bit of PR for them to have the France no.1 playing in Paris (may also help them with some of the Ligue 1 regulations on foreign players by adding another French national).

Monaco i could see making a move and they have the money to back it up in terms of transfer fee and massive wages.

Barca have the transfer ban looming though so may not even be an option...

Sounds like Monaco is the risk then. Hopefully he feels no need to go back to France.
