He doesn't seem to be the biggest of personalities, perhaps more of a lead by example like The King. I think we need someone super demonstrative as our captain, someone who will shout, encourage and organise as well as leading by example. Thats not meant as a sleight on Huge-O however.
He is the captain of France though, so must have leadership quality

Keylor navas would be my choice. Had a great season for levante last year and has a €10 million release clause, also showing his quality in the World Cup. (y)

He is well known to be a big and influential voice in the French dressing room - and he is one of the main reasons why Nasri isn't in the French squad - he led the delegation of players who went to Deschamps and asked him not to include Nasri.

then im even more convinsed he should be captain if/when Dawson joins Hull or another. Cant see any other captain material in the current squad

That's just a rumor. And he is France's captain by default, there was some criticism when he was chosen.

Nope, it was stated a couple of days ago by a very respected French journalist on an interview, during which he also said that Lloris is 'the strongest voice in the dressing room' and is 'hugely respected by all the players' - it's well-known in France. We just rarely hear the in's and out's behind the situation over here because our press aren't particularly interested.

If Lloris goes, then Levy can go buy Howard, and end up with a keeper who let in fewer goals last season, and would be a marking boon for the states.

If that's from Riolo and Menes' book, they're not really "very respected journalists".

Howard with the rest of our team in front of him would be a fair comparison. This argument is nonsense though, I'm sure I'm just being whooshed. You don't think Howard is better than Lloris, right?

Howard, Navas, Caballero, Ochoa, Krul, Begovic, etc

There are many top top keepers around, if Lloris goes it won't be calamitous.

However I really hope he stays.

Yeah Everton wont be selling Howard and I highly doubt he would leave Everton. If Levy really cared about marketing in the states that much, he would have kept Dempsey. Also, if he is now looking for marketing here again, signing Yedlin would do it.

Lloris is as close to unsellable as we have. We cannot, under any circumstances, afford to lose him. He is one of the best keepers in the world. His sweeper keeper style is essential to our style of play with Poch's tactics. We need to keep him. If we want to have any shot of making CL, Lloris is a MUST keep.

I think they are different - Lloris is really much better as a sweeper-keeper, and would be better than Howard playing behind a high line. But, Howard is a fine shot-stopper, brings a lot of leadership (even if he could not be captain), and would do a great job organizing the defense.

The question was "If Lloris goes...", and if that happened, Howard would be a great keeper to grab, would be relatively cheap, and would allow Spurs to really grow the brand in the states - both key attributes Levy would like.

Why do you think the squad is touring the states?

He obviously wants marketing in the states, but he sold the 2 best marketing pieces he had wrt the US in Bale and Dempsey. If US marketing was such a big deal, he wouldnt have sold Clint for only 6 mill.
