Ljajic mainly plays as a LWF or CAM ... we can use him even with lamela.. Ljajic - eriksen - Lamela !!! Ljajic is just a better version of Siggurdsson that's all i can say... I would love to have him in our team !!

Therein lies my entire point. Of course I'm happy to have Lamela, but I think the rationale for chasing him specifically (beyond his obvious talent) was a) the club clearly wanted a big name signing in Bale's position and b) Baldini was keen on helping his old club out with their financial woes. But if it were me personally in charge, if I couldn't have both and having assessed what Townsend can do, I would have used those funds to get Ljajic and another striker or LB cover. Now we have our two best wingers playing in the same spot, and our record signing starting league games on the bench at the moment.

Personally I think it must be a forward and at age 24 Thomas Muller fits the bill but why would he leave Bayern ?

All down to Pep i suppose, no one knows yet what he has in mind with Bayern, false 9 or straight striker, style etc.
I think he would be a superb fit for us, can't see him being an AVB style player though, mentality wise he is exactly what we need, but it seems we are going after a finisher, although Muller would fit the criteria of playing across all front 4 positions i don't think it's him....... i would proper love it Keegan style if it was though.. :playful:

WHY ARE PEOPLE SAYING FALCAO?

He JUST SIGNED this summer! How could we also have signed him in the same window!

Rooney/Muller/Reus/Suarez are my guesses, still.

Monaco are under relentless pressure from the French league (even considered being boycotted) because of their tax free status. There was a lot of talk he would have to leave before the window ended based off the move being "illicit" anyway (based on salary) to accommodate the demands of the rest of the league.

Can anyone tell me What's muller's best position?? He has got the speed of an natural winger , vision of an attacking midfielder , passing range of an central midfielder , his finishing and the movement in the box and heading and physical attributes to bully defenders seem to like he is an out n out striker........... What he actually is ?? I think the lad worth 40m+ !!!

We COULD have signed him if they accepted - remember when David Unsworth was sold from West Ham to Villa then a couple weeks later sold to Everton without playing a game for the Villians?

As said the pressure on Monaco to adhere to FFP rules could have forced their hand

The wages he would demand, his age and the likely hood of bigger teams wanting him are the reasons I don't believe we could sign him - not the fact Monaco only bought him that Sumer

Can play as a striker, a number ten, and on the right wing. He plays best as a rw in Germany's national team, and I think that is where he is best overall.

For munich robben occupies the rw ... I think he plays in the hole and he is best there because you can use his vision and small , intricate passing on that position... But can he play as a left wing and cutting inside with right foot and hit the bar like siggurdsson on consistent basis?? :p

Both Reus and Muller would be close to that sort of money, but dont see why they would wait and see in January and why would change minds.. Both Bayern and Dortmund will be in contention for Bundesliga still and will more than likely still be in the CL.. But can see why we would go after them as Reus can play through any of the 3 postions in a 4231, and Muller can play in 2 of those 3 and as a striker as well

The likelyhood of Bayern selling Muller is extremely slim at best. If they do sell him then Madrid will be all over that imo.

It's gotta be Reus. Muller doesn't make sense imo. Reus doesn't make sense either, but he'd be a better fit for us than Muller. I just can't see Dortmund even entertaining the thought of selling him. Nor could i see him wanting to make a step down from Dortmund to play for us.

There's always the possibility that this ITK is off the mark and there was no £50m bid, meaning our guesses are futile

Not meaning to overstep the mark and sound like I'm bashing info - I am sure it is passed over in good faith but it seems to me the source could just be inaccurate.

Firstly the same source seems to have suggested we never intended to sell Bale and as a club we didn't think we would sell Bale - not until later in the window anyway.

This is in direct contrast to JJ the ITK who pretty much called everything perfectly from the get go.

I'm incline to believe JJ knew what was going on - perhaps his info came from a source closer to the club or higher up the chain and as a result was more accurate.

He said all along there would be a number of top class incomings but there would be one massive outgoing (Bale) - he said this all along and stuck to his guns while most other ITK's were suggesting Bale would stay no matter what or Bale will stay because Madrid can't afford the fee whatever.

Personally it seems to me that perhaps other ITKs were getting inaccurate itk because there sources were simply not as close as those JJ hears whispers from.

My point is if this ITK was off the mark about Bale going its just as likely it could be wide of the mark about the suggested £50m bid and while we are throwing out names for £50m rated players we could have bid for and may still bid for it could all be pointless as there's a very good chance no such bid was made and the information while given in good faith and seemingly solid is just slightly off the mark like the BAle to stay information previously

I'd like to hear is JJ has any comments about the alleged £50m bid - either to validate or refute it

There simply isn't a player in the world that fits this remit IMO.

The price mooted is the value of 2 Erik Lamelas. TWO.

Any self respecting pundit would place him in a top 10 most promising /exciting young players list.
So how can a player be worth twice that AND want to come AND not already be at a big club?

Ah, it's a mystery, a fun mystery, but a mystery nonetheless.
I just can't see Levy sanctioning another Soldado-esque old player / big money signing.

Another option is Zlatan Ibrahimovic but at 32 would Levy really splash £ 50 M on him ?

I very much doubt it.

I still think it must have been a forward though as they command the highest fees and that's where we are short

I don't see it being Falcao because we just spent all that money on Soldado. Does Falcao even play any other position than striker?

It's not Falcao. Soldado and Falcao fighting for 1 spot at Tottenham ? Don't think so. We have too many midfielders to play with 2 strikers.
If this info is true then this play will be LW and striker cover.

JJ is retired, hasn't been on in quite some time.
