Was about to say the same thing. Not that I think it will happen in a million years as he won't move to a non CL team and we wouldn't pay his wages but £50m for a 27yrd who is maybe a bit out of favour may mean Man Utd would sell and they are also probably arrogant enough to not consider us a rival.

Thats the sort of thinking......

I'd say Mata, or Falcao (depending on status of club springs to mind)

Gotze?

I remember Wenger being all over him a year ago

Not sure he worth 50m though plus would we need him if we have Eriksen

I don't know enough about world football to work out who the mystery player is, but I can't see everyone being happy with us paying £50M for Suarez.

If I was guessing I would say Lewandowski, but if he can leave on a free why would we pay so much for him?

No chance on Lewandowski since he has been well aware of interest from the very top clubs that he could leave for on his own choosing six months after the winter window.

An article this morning has been posted with an interview from David Ginola saying he thinks it's ridiculous Falcao is playing for Monaco. Cites their attendance at times of two to three thousand supporters as absurd for a player of his quality after arriving from Atletico. The idea of coming to Spurs and being the star man under AVB is probably tempting, but no doubt he would want to assess his situation at Monaco as well as any offers from other clubs in the window. There's no doubt however, that given a choice he'd go to Real Madrid given the opportunity.

Still think there's a chance it's Benzema. He knows he's not popular among the Madrid supporters, we could probably do it under the table, and Madrid would probably be happy to get a chunk of that money back while "keeping us content" in the relationship. Benzema has also struggled in front of goal for France, and could use a confidence boost/new challenge with the World Cup coming up and his seat heating up.

I just can't think of another winger beyond Reus that could be worth that much. Would be incredibly surprised for Reus to even consider the idea of coming to Spurs. On the plus side, due to his loyalty to Dortmund, he probably wouldn't want to go to Bayern.

A player from Madrid would seem the most obvious to me seeing as any bid from us would only require the writing off of money owed from the Bale/Modric sales rather than us having to provide payment plans and such

Who that would be I don't really know - Is Benzema a £50m player?

Not quite necessarily, I'm just digging deep for players worth anywhere close to that kind of money.

It's suarez or falcao ....... not reus / kroos or muller ...... Benzema doesn't worth the money and we don't need di maria right now....... Whom do we can buy from madrid?? They wont sell moratta or jese so that's a non starter.......... I think if it's reus , then spend the whole 50m on reus which i probably think isn't , reus will never ever come to spurs ... Rather than spending the whole money on suarez , i would like us to buy a LWF who worth 15 to 25m max ( Aubamyeng would be perfect given his price tag , but we failed to get him ) , el sharaway or ljajic would be great options to have , then buy a quality left back and an young CF ......... That would be great !!

I wanted Ljajic something fierce, especially once Townsend showed his quality in preseason. I'm a fan of Lamela, but he was almost three times the cost and was to be brought in at a position we were already deeper at. Ljajic has been a major part of why Roma sit top of Serie A at the moment. Of course he wouldn't fill that price tag description, but that's exactly why I wish we would have pursued him harder (if he would have been willing to come to England).

We've been told it's not Draxler or Mata.

El Sharaawy isn't worth anywhere near £50M. Falcao is too old for us to risk £50M on even if we can afford his wages. Levy would only sanction that type of money for a relatively young player who is already proven and has a resale value. I doubt Man Utd would sell us Rooney and again wages would be a problem.

That leaves Suarez, Reus, Muller, Dzagoev, Vidal and Benzema as possible options although £50M seems a lot for any of them.

Personally I reckon it's Muller or Reus.

I don't think it's Reus, because he was already being reported in the press with rumored bids or interest from City,United, and Arsenal. So doubt it;s this, besides BVB won't sell.

It's Falcao, with the tax problems in Monaco...only player worth 50m...exactly what Monaco paid him...don't know why he didn't want to come, if he knew Andre from Porto...maybe he thinks the money tax issue may work out in the end, if Platini doesn't press Monaco on it??

I could imagine it being baliotelli....could be the best striker in the world if he maintains form for this season
...
To pay 50m we would have to be getting major sell on value, so at 22 he is young enough...hence Falco unlikely

He would have to be a player with potential to be in a world 11 to justify that fee too- That is why I cannot see it being benzema either

Ljajic mainly plays as a LWF or CAM ... we can use him even with lamela.. Ljajic - eriksen - Lamela !!! Ljajic is just a better version of Siggurdsson that's all i can say... I would love to have him in our team !!

Are we having a countdown to the next window countdown? A kind of closed window, window if you like. I've only just about recovered from the last one and was actually going to spend some time watching the footie before this all started again.

Maybe a game on hangman using well know players names? _ _ _ _ _ _ _
