Linking up with Riijkaard then, don't think we'll be seeing Gio back any time soon tbh. Oh well, good luck to him there, i'm sure he'll do well under a manager that appreciates what he can do.

He obviously hasn't impressed Harry enough in training. Good luck to him, hopefully he smashes it in Turkey enough to convince us of his worth.

I really am stumped as to why he's not had more opportunity at Spurs. Aside from the injury, which was just really, really unlucky, he's shown all the signs of being an impact sub of superhero proportions. When he's been out on loan his team mates, fans and manager have raved about him, he's lit up the Concacacacaf with Mexico and plays with a smile on his face - he enjoys his football so why, Harry, why won't you play him?? Drop him in behind the front two, see what he can do tear arsing about in a free role, i get the feeling he would produce results.

White shirt,
White shorts,
Dos Santos.

The boy's a time bomb

When has he ever shown this in competitive games against sides above Championship or League One standard?

Going to play for his former Barcelona manager. The same manager who introuduced him into the Barca first team. The same manager who also introduced Messi and Bojan into the Barca team. The same manger who was not afraid to give youth a chance. The same manager who won 2 La Liga titles awell as the CL.....

Good luck GDS, hope it works our for you in Turkey and you go on to show the WORLD how good a player you really are at the world cup....!

when has he been given the chance since HR has taken charge......

p.s. Dont mention the start of 08-09 season as everyone of them playing then was not pulling up any trees....

According to SSN they will have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season, doubt he'll want to come back and work for Harry after being back under Riijkaard tbh. We'll see, just checked and Galatasary are 2nd, 4 pts behind Fener with a game in hand. They face Atl Madrid in the Europa league knockout so maybe ESPN might show the game. Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Pep Guardiola a coach who believes in youth a lot more than Rijkaard got rid of him. I would have liked to have seen Gio get a few more games obviously but I was never blown away that we had signed him as he looked lightweight in La Liga. Good luck to him playing in the Turkish League.

According to The Sun (so it must be true!) the loan is with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer at £8 mill. As the obvious replacement for Lennon - who seems to be out for longer than originally anticipated - one is tempted to ask why. I was really looking forward to this little guy getting a decent run. Who knows why Harry is not impressed - attitude? injury prone? bad breath? - but I can only assume that there is a problem or surely we would be hanging on to him.

I really hate to see players leave when they've not even been given a chance but if it means Harry is going to bring another player in that WILL play then we have to go with whats best for the team and not individuals

Good Luck Gio

And this claim is based on what, exactly?

Played there for Barca, can cross, can dribble, passes, plays there for Mexico, scores, pacy, knows to hug the touchline but can come inside. As opposed to Modders, or Jenas there who ALWAYS drift in.

Next best there would be Hutton or Naughton.

I agree with all you say.

By default at best, then?

Yep, I would probably say that too, but then again he never really got a run in the team when we was playing well like Bentley for example. Ten minutes here and there was never going to be enough. But still unless we get someone else in, while Lennon is injured we still don't have anyone that is comfortable doing anything out on the right hand side.

I was actually the same, the summer we signed him I wasn't too impressed, like you I watch most Barca games and knew he would struggle to adapt here. But I did know that he had some talent, and when I saw that we only paid £4.7m for him I thought that maye it wasn't so bad after all.

I do think though that too many people on here judge him on the few performances at the beginning of the season when the whole team was shit. After that he has had minimal chances compared to some of the other players here.

A loan deal is good, wouldn't want him sold just yet. He needs games so he can regain his confidence. I still think we could have used him while Lennon is out though.

I don't think confidence would have been a problem, unless you meant he had no confidence in Harry giving him a fair go, then he would be right

he played great for Mexico and with his country in the WC he surely would have been on a high coming back, I don't think confidence was the problem

usually how it works is, when a player is out on loan he is recalled if someone gets injured and he can play that position, I guess we are backwards in that a player is injured ( Lennon ) and we loan out a player who could play there instead, makes no sense
