Newcastle's a smart enough move for him if he wants to play every game and still stay up.
Villa more of a risk of getting relegated again.

Would have liked to have him here and playing a few games for us, but the chance to play every game for newcastle and maybe even be a cult hero for them (cause they do like a striker) isn't one I can blame him for.

Could see Newcastle being a solid enough top half team

Who do they knock out of the top 10? The old top 6 + Wolves + Leicester should all be top half, Everton are shopping some decent players, Southampton were really good in the second half of last season.

It's going to be a very tight league this year I think

It's gonna be a tight year, sure. But Sheffield United and Burnley I guess would be the ones I could see losing a space.
Basically, almost spin around a throw a dart at 'em and then two of Newcastle, Everton, Southampton, Burnley and Sheffield United will get that top half spot.

More just Newcastle were solid enough last year and have done some sensible business I can see them doing a little better and legitimately going for the top half.

Naturally this now is me condemning them to a relegation battle

I think we can also add WHAM (because they always seem to improve when they're in most turmoil), Brighton, Palace and possibly even Leeds to that list. I just think there will be almost nothing separating the teams from say 8th to 15/16 this year, everyone's making fairly sensible signings and most squads look at the very least capable.

Fulham and Villa are the only two I feel confident will struggle this year, so chances are I'll get at least one wrong

Could be the final nail in Joelinton's coffin that one. When a player with a £40 million price tag is having his number removed, the manager obviously lost faith in him as first team player.

Imo Joelinton could easily fit in with us and our counter-attacking play. At Hoffenheim they played with a high pressing line and counter-attack making the most out of Joelinton. He's good at holding up defenders and create space. Him and Kane could form a good partnership

Just a thought...

I will never add WHAM to that, no matter their squad

I suppose when you’ve been walking in the desert for 3 days without water, even a pint of carlsberg would have you thinking it tastes good.

Can someone explain how Newcastle can pay 14m for Jamal Lewis and 20m for Wilson

And we have made two signings totaling less but had to sell walker peters to help fund the deal

They also have Ashley at the helm

I know this is hard to get your head around....but maybe, just maybe, the club nor Jose rate them enough or at all?

I get that , but more so the fact we are hearing we need to sell Aurier before we can buy another

But Newcastle haven’t had to sell anyone

Well Ali Gold is saying we have money for a striker. I think selling is more to do with HG issue than anything.

In the case of Lewis - LB is not a priority position, therefore we need to sell before we replace.

Wilson, it sounds like we were interested and have set aside some money for this but it has to be the right player for the right value. 20m on Wilson who has had some injuries and is 28 is different to being able to get him for 10m as we can still shift him and get some of our money back should it not work out.

25m on Ollie Watkins isn't ideal either as we'd struggle to recoup that if he fails to make the step up.

It's why we are looking at Diallo - 15m. If it doesn't work out we should still be able to recoup most of it.

As always it's a balancing act. We spend 30m on a striker then that means we have to make sacrifices elsewhere.
