I think most of us would agree that he's a very good footballer. You don't play in the front line for Man City if you aren't very good technically and work your bollocks off. I think there are legitimate question marks as to whether he's a top class 'goalscorer' though - evidenced by his consistently below-average finishing stats and the fact he blanked in 31 out of 41 appearances last season while playing for perhaps the best attacking side in world football.
yeh agreed. Also for those saying City were happy to sell him, Romano confirmed on a few occasions they were in conversations over a potential new deal for Jesus. He clearly wanted to leave though and with 1 year left City have to sell him.

Decent player. Top class? Lmfao.

It would have been mehx1000 if we’d gone for him. They’re welcome to him.

Nobody is crying. Romano literally confirmed City tried to negotiate a new deal for Jesus. Jesus obviously wants to leave and only has 1 year left so City basically have to sell. I’m not suggesting he’s anywhere near the level of Kane but he’s a very forward and

Discussing his abilities as a forward I just don't think he's that great.

We're not deluded for thinking that...his stats bear that out...as a forward.

A good footballer, sure. But he's not a prolific forward and that's what they lacked...someone to tuck the goals away.

I guess a lot of it will come down to how he adapts to being the main man up top and playing for a team that doesn't dominate every game. Some players flourish when given consistent starts and responsibility, while others are found out when removed from a system like Pep's at City. Fingers crossed it's the latter.

I think he'll be a streaky player. There'll be times he looks a world beater then he'll go missing for longer. I'd be surprised if he even got Aubameyang numbers for them (who was a top striker when on it).

I was only interested in him as a backup for Spurs, I wouldn't be celebrating him coming in as main ST like Arsenal seem to be, but then their current striker is Nketiah so it makes sense.

Aubameyang numbers would be huge for them. He won the golden boot.

I think Giroud or Lacazette numbers are more likely.

Again worth repeating.

They had to sign a striker. They have money so with those things being considered this is pretty much best case scenario.

He is nowhere near kane or even Sons level, he has shown no signs of being able to be a prolific leading the line forward and he wouldn't get In our front three.

He may do well but right now this deal hasn't worried me at all.

Just to make you all aware, it’s ok to think (at the same time) that Jesus is a good signing for Arsenal, acknowledge his qualities and also not remotely worry about not signing him as someone who isn’t necessarily what we need.

All of those things are fine to think.

His best season he scored 14 goals in a side that create for fun stick him in a lesser side he struggles - he isn't prolific and never will be

The only proof we need is his stats in the world's best team!

City were willing to sell him, he knew the writing was on the wall when they signed haaland and was not confident enough in his ability to stay.

He is a good "forward" no more. There are many players who would get his numbers in the main striker position. Moura, Bergwijn or even kulu would all get close to his numbers playing as a 9 for City. Kane or son would be posting prime messi/Ronaldo numbers!

Not even remotely concerned that they have probably signed him.

Was just about to write that. He's a good player and will improve their squad probably by a fair bit. But he ain't transformational.

Agreed. He's a good signing. Saliba coming back is big for them and he could be a top class CB. Raphinha would be a fantastic signing for them. Viera looks like he has potential (although I'm not sure why he was a priority for them).

That can all be true and we can still be favourites going into next season. Just have to make sure our recruitment is just as good or better.

You have to remember how far we would of finished ahead of them had Conte, Kulu and Bentacur been in from the start of the season.

Would never of even been a fight for fourth.

Yes they'll add and improve but there actually quite a far way off us imo.

Be interesting to know how far behind us they would of been looking at the league since January.

You say that but we were only 2 points behind them when Nuno got sacked and their second half of the seaons was better than their first too.

I think we'll finish above them but I don't know why people are just assuming they're not even in contention for top 4. They've got a good, settled, young squad and anything can happen. Just because we've got Conte it doesn't mean we've a god given right to finish 3rd next season.

Not a God given right...of course not.

And not ruling them out of contention but I don't think they'll finish top four.

City, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea for me.

That’s kind of the point. We were shite under Nuno, we couldn’t buy a goal. And they were still only two points ahead of us. If we’d had out Conte from match day 1, we’d have been well clear of them.

Far too early on a Monday for common sense and rational views, especially on this forum!
