Willian could return to Brazil without spending 14 days in a hotel, but the argentine players get evicted. Got it.

(A point made by the Argentina camp)

Don't agree that we can't say who is to blame, the issue is more finding who isn't to blame.
Bunch of amateurs all over. This should have been solved long before the players even flew over.

Marcotti says Infantino is at the Swiss/Italy game. Bet his phone has blown up this last hour.

Spurs and Villa also at fault. The PL agreed to not release players for this, but they still did.

Even Wolves held back Jimenez despite threats from Mexico.

The clubs should stand together on these kind of things. This was always going to be a mess when the brazilians stayed back in England while Argentina had their players there.

We absolutely shouldn’t have released them

Seem Argentina knew the situation and maybe tried to lie their way around it, and Brazil have pulled off a PR stunt that might get them handed a win by default rather than dealing with it beforehand.

Give zero points to both.

Did the PL back this, or just the teams decide not to release them?

I’m not sure we’d have had a choice. Argentina and Brazil are different kettle of fish to other South American nations. Players like Lo Celso would likely never play for them again if they refuse a call up .

Remember that time we let Son play on the Asia games despite it not being a FIFA recognised tournament? And then after he won it let him off from military service which would’ve all but ruined his career in his prime? And then this summer, when Kane wanted to leave and we had no manager and everyone was like ‘oooh our club is so shit’ Son signed a new contract that would basically keep him with us until he was past his best?

Perhaps supporting our players, to our own detriment, with their wishes with regard to representing the nations isn’t a stick with which you beat us.

Just get them back now please.

Fifa needs to move all qualifiers to countries without quarantine issues. They can be played anywhere.

I'm assuming the players weren't the ones doing their entry to Brazil paper work. Is that a reasonable assumption?

The PL organisation deals with selling rights, media, growing the commercial brand, things like that. But the power in the PL lies with the 20 clubs that compete in it in any particular season, the league can't force any sort of footballing decision upon the clubs.
