Interesting that it’s FIFA backed. I always thought that FIFA would oppose this type of thing and could ban players from being eligible form World Cups if they are involved in such leagues.

FIFA want to get their grubby little hands on domestic football. There is so much money to be made

For this to work there has to be relegation with other teams promoted to make this remotely interesting but they wouldn’t want to risk it so what is the point? If a team runs away with it there will be no relegation battle, no champions league places, it will just be dull. Meaningless games for the last 3 months of the season would be painful.

That's what the Yanks want mate, guaranteed income without the risk.
You'll end up with 3/4 teams seriously competing for the title, and everyone else just going through the motions, picking up their cash.

This will simultaneously ruin all of the top leagues in Europe, it's a fucking disgraceful idea.

which will mean it won't become so big to the tv companies.

I hope something happens that teams involved lose their registration with the FA. no way you could play 38 PL matches, 30+ ESL and also be involved in internationals (so many injuries)

FIFA backing this thing is just their revenge for EUFA not backing FIFA's 50 club world championship all I can say is FIFA are being shortsighted because if these yanks get their way with EUFA they will turn their attention to the rest of the world so FIFA should have backed EUFA and not had a sissy fit . Top of the world Ma top of the world . Their greed knows no boundaries .

You take out the 18 biggest clubs from Europe and it’s the beginning of the end for European domestic football

It might be the end of big money TV deals, but teams will adapt and players will come to realize that not all will be able to play in that league.

In the long run, it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There doesn't seem to be much of an appetite for this formate from fans. I could see attendances dropping and those fans turning to local teams or teams not invited. Where does this new league turn to without the pull of the local community? I could see it becoming a world league and then it's even more of a farce (IMO) and even more closed off, it would become a bit of a traveling circus.

Just a TV league. Like a reality computer game played by humans!

Watched by hundreds of millions....
