The FA killed the England team and they will do everything in their power to get what the fans want which is Harry Redknapp.

The FA dont care about Tottenham and what damages they could do to us.

I am just glad that Levy is our chairman and will do everything in his power to protect Tottenham.

I used to love watching England. I went to plenty of England games at Wembley, including the Euro 96 game against Scotland (which is still the best live match I've been to - cheers Gazza ), but now I don't give a fuck.

Why? Simple really. Most of the players don't give a fuck either. I don't expect us to win every game (let alone win tournaments) but I expect the players to show some passion. For the last few years we have just looked completely flat.

It doesn't help that half the line-up is a who's who of fucktard scumsuckers.

Club before country has always been the case for me. Any last meanignful shred of Ingerlund I had went after Ghodd was ousted and even then, hardly mattered to me that much, just a bit of entertainment.

I know plenty of Spurs fans will be extremely passionate about the England team but surely Club before Country, surely?

Watching your Club week in week out as opposed to every two years watching a couple of games, that's all it is in reality albeit in the biggest tournaments in the world...qualification periods? Do they really get the blood pumping like watching Spurs play week in week out? They're underwhelming really, no point in even mentioning friendlies...which players drop out of like flies.

Personally if your national team comes before your Club you must be bored shitless

I don't watch England much because they're boring

I'd much rather see us lose 5-4 than limp to a 0-0 against the likes of Algeria

I think it's because as I get older I put more value in 'time'

I only have a finite amount of it left, and I certainly don't want to waste it by sitting through 2 hours of Terry, Lampard, Ronney, et al, huffing and puffing against teams that, on paper at least, they should be thrashing

It would be nice if England, for once, picked 10 attack-minded players and they just went for it. Chaaaaaaaaarrrrggggeeee!!!!!
A bit like Spurs in the Champions' League last season :hump:

Couldn't care less about England. I switched international allegiance to Germany during the 2006 World Cup (part of my family's German so I'm allowed ) because I like to be entertained by football. Since sacking Hoddle, England have been the exact opposite of entertainment.

Its a difficult one, Football is unique in that some of the leagues and club competitions have got so rich and of perceived importance that it takes precedence over the National team. I cant think of any other Sport where this is the case, the Rugby and Cricket for example has the outlook that the International game is the pinnacle of the career.

The national team used to be a big deal when I was a kid. I really cared about it, sung the songs, got my mates over for games. Loved it.

Now it just feels different. Maybe it's because we are a bigger club and we're able to compete in the really important competitions, or maybe it's just because I can watch high quality football in the Premier League on a weekly basis, and therefore don't really get excited by the odd England game popping up here and there.

However, it is almost certainly to do the fact that I despise the majority of that England squad - Terry, Cole, Wilshere, Rooney etc. most of them are odious scumbags who I spend a lot of time detesting.

I'm supposed to support them just because of some tedious national pride bullshit I'm fed by the media in the lead up to a tournament?

No, it doesn't wash.

The best thing England could do would be to treat the next 2-3 years, including the Euros, as an experiment to bring in 80% young players and grow a new philosophy from the U17s upwards - get them all playing the same style of football and not get so hung up about the pressures of qualification.

Give the job to a young British manager, someone like Rodgers, someone who plays football the way you envisage the team playing - in short, someone who buys into your philosophy. Give them the job and tell them not to feel the pressure of qualification but to focus on building something that can actually fucking last, for a change. Build the English team a future. A team we can be proud of.

This is precisely what Germany did with Klinsmann and Loew. It worked a treat, with young players graduating to fit seamlessly into a system that they had been exposed to since U17 level. Now they've got decent youngsters like Ozil and Khedira coming through who have slotted right in and are World Class. Their vision and philosophy has been the reason for Germany's recent success.

Of course, the FA will not do this, because they are led by the media (and, to a large degree, the money that they can get for qualifying for a major tournament every time one takes place). There are also a load of very stupid England fans who simply won't understand the notion of anything other than immediate (albeit fleeting) success.

No, the FA will give Redknapp the job to get the feelgood factor back for the Euros. However, they and Harry will soon find all of the old problems resurfacing and, in my opinion, Redknapp will regret it. Especially when he is on the verge of something so special with this Tottenham team.

Sums up my position exactly - including the future of the national team, and Redknapp's likely choices and outcomes.

Why I would be expected to support a team containing wankers like Stevie G and JT, and talentless media promotions like Walcott, I have no idea. The idea of cheering on Wayno Roono the fat fuck makes me feel sick.

In fact half the reason I watch England these days is just to support the Spurs players. The other half of the reason of course is so that I can hurl abuse at the likes of the ****s I list above.

Club before country is a given but even without my deep-rooted fandom of Spurs I'm not sure I'd care about the England team. International football simply isn't the pinnacle of the game anymore, international friendlies are a complete waste of time and although some of them talk a good game, most of the players don't really give a shit about international football.

I actually think that when I watched Germany stuff England in the World Cup (I was at Glastonbury at the time) I was one of very few who wasn't really disappointed. In fact I was quite pleased because it had been a good game and the significantly superior team had won.

If it's because of the England team that our season stutters then that may be the straw that breaks the three lions back for me.

One of my favourite recent international tournaments was Euro 2008 - no England involvement, so no stupid news obsession, no interviews with players I hate, no idiots standing outside stadiums before games surrounded by slobbering morons - just a great tournament of pure quality football where I was free to root for whichever team I most enjoyed watching. Loved it.

I remember Jimmy Greaves getting dogs abuse years ago when he suggested players lacked 'fire in their belly' when they turned out for England, I wonder what his views would be on apathetic fans 45 years on?

In my view, club football outstrips the international game in just about every sense; apart, perhaps, from xenophobic jingoism, particularly leading up to a major tournament.

I can count on the fingers of two hands the number of truly engrossing England games I've seen since 1966, when I was 14, and perhaps two tournaments of note (1970 & Italia '90). For the most part the remainder has been deadly boring, with dull, safe unadventurous football.

England, or any other national team come to think of it, doesn't deserve Harry Redknapp.

Judging by some of his suffocating tactics at Chelsea, Mourinho would be a better match, him or Sam Allerdyce who would have plenty of spare time between matches to piss about with Pro-Zone 'til his hearts content.

Personally I'd go for an English duo of Gareth Southgate and Sir Trevor Brooking, now there's a management team to more than match the blandness of the international game.

I believe that England are a chance for fans of clubs like Crewe and Hereford etc to see some better football but they do not compare to what we currently see week in week out.

Don't be so bloody patronising.

(other than that, i agree, i've watched one entire match since 2010, couldnt give a monkeys)

I cannot and will not support a team with Chelsea or Arsenal players in it!

I couldn't give a monkey's left bollock about england. I am spurs. Other teams only exist so that spurs can play them.
