I think you need to check the tax rate in Turkey.

After Tax it probably matches what Ade takes home here.

i reckon it nets out at slightly more in Turkey at £67k per week than £100k in England. Maybe we should all be moving there!

He'd be treated like a demi god over there too.

Very tempting.

I went on holiday there a few years back, I was in the south of Turkey (Alanya) anyway I was wearing a Fenerbache football shirt my then brother in law got me. When I was walking in town people were looking at me smiling, giving me thumbs up and stuff. I thought they were being friendly, however my then wife informed me that they thought I was 1 of their players.

Yep but he wouldn't be getting the £Xmillion lump sum he got from City when he joined us, to make up for the shortfall in what we pay & what he was earning at City. So he would pretty much be losing out if they only matched what he earns here, fair comment?

No, as City won't get part of that lump sum back if he leaves.

Too bloody right he would. Somebody posted a YouTube clip (much) earlier in the responses to this thread, of Darius Vassell's arrival in Turkey, it was just absurd lol. I'd imagine the supposed large ego of Adebayor would be massaged immensely over there.

Sorry mate, I don't understand? He'd still be 'earning' the same wage as we are paying him BUT he only accepted our wage because City's lump sum meant he wasn't losing out from the wage he was on there. But he would be losing out (over the duration of his contract in Turkey) if he went there to earn what he does with us (basic salary).. I'm not explaining myself very well am I :(

The shortfall has already been paid for and he knows full well after last season his stock will have fallen, i am sure his agent does too, he would have to be extremely stupid not to realise he was vastly overpaid at City, this isn't to say he won't squeeze as much as possible but he will have to take a sideways step wage wise IMO..

I see what you are getting at, so he's assuming that his next contract will be bigger than the 1 he is currently on with us.

He has 2 years left on current contract so 75k p/w for 4 years might be tempting for him, plus lower taxes.

Whether he is in Turkey or here, he will have received his lump sum from City, which does not affect what we pay him. So he will be on a comparable wage to what he is with us, that doesn't mean he will be taking a pay cut, unless you assume that after two more years with us, he was going to get a significant pay bump or a huge signing bonus.

From my source i heard the staff are split on who wants him to stay and some want him gone. So there isnt that much pressure on the timeframe for him to accept the deal on offer.

Yes, he'll not be getting a pay cut, but I'd imagine he'd be looking for an increase, no matter how slight? This is Adebayor we're talking about, his reputation is not one of compromise. I actually would prefer it if we kept him & got rid of Defoe :(

I imagine, if your info is correct in the ITK thread, Ade would be more open to a move IF we get something sorted with Benteke by the end of the week?

He took a big pay cut to join us. Many sources have said the lump sum he received from City was to do with his previous contract, rather than just making up for his drop in wages.

I wonder who is on which side.

I assume AvB doesn't want him then.

Wow, I had always thought that he was on 100k/week. Glad I'm wrong, but it also makes me rethink selling him. [Insert Adebayor is shit as a backup comment here]
