According to newst ITK he's likely to be off.

Personally I don't think he will be missed. Hasn't done much since coming and the amount of sitters he's missed would suggest he's far from his best. Got the contract so now it's sit-back time.

A loan might be a good idea.

Would be absolute madness. And particularly to QPR, who will get relegated, and therefore would not be able to buy him, and would leave us with a player that every team out there knows is unwanted, who has a reputation for being an unreliable moody so and so, and is on huge wages. So we'd be up shit creek.

You can't say he won't be missed. He's a very good player, worthy of a top 4 and a CL team. Yes, this year he's gone off the boil, struggling to get in. Remember, he had no pre-season and thus was unfit when he arrived. Defoe got into scoring form after looking useless as a lone striker at the start. AVB is then stuck with a predicament where he can't drop Defoe if he's scoring. Then when Ade got a chance he got injured. A bit unlucky really.

He needs a good run of games as the lone striker to really show his worth as I don't think playing off Defoe is working too well for him. He needs to be the focal point. No he won't get RVP levels of goals but he will bring in other players around him. Last season he scored 17 and got 11 assists, a fantastic balanced performance. Alongside him VDV got 11 goals/7 assists and Bale got 9 goals/10 assists. This is just PL stats only.

Defoe's got 10 so far with 2 assists this season and is doing well, imo. He may get 20 by the end of the season, and I do hope so, but I reckon he'll end up with around 17/18 and not many more assists. Comparatively I'd say Ade brings more to the table when he's in form.

If the ITK is correct and we're getting a replacement I'd be all for this.
Finding somebody to cope with Adebayor's wages is a problem though.

I'll fucking miss him.

Seems like madness to me, considering our other options. Even if we signed Damiao, we'd still only have 3 and one of them is Defoe, so 2.5 really.

Well it's better than Chelsea's 1.5 at least.

Right, get the pitchforks!

I expected as much, he'll probably stay on loan to pick up his wages and move in the summer. Same with Bentley.

Oops, thought you meant Jenas! Forgot what thread we were in. :p

It took forever to get him and 5 months later we are getting rid? Levy doesn't work like that.

There are times when he's really effective and at his best he is really first class but he is inconsistent. We could say the same about other players of course so he isn't the only one by any means. He does a lot of constructive work in midfield and setting up moves for other players that often seem to go unnoticed but he doesn't score as often as we would wish.

I'm undecided about whether he should go or not right now but I will admit to being very frustrated with some of his poorer performances.

Funnily enough I was just thinking how good an idea it would be to sell one of our 2 strikers.

Makes sense...qpr will be looking for that combative, battling target man to give 110% every game and drag them away from the relegation mire...

Italian clubs were interested in him so if he were shipped off there we could make a profit on him, as long as we replace him with Damaio and Zaha possibly as the back up striker.

I'd be happy to keep him, would just like to see him more in the box and less on the wing.
