We do not have time to be messing around signing more players that are going to take five months to settle in, what we need is a ready made partnership who we know what they will give to the team and for me at the moment with both Heskey and Owen out of contract at the end of the season we should get them in..

People slate Heskey but with the quality Bentley and Bale can put in the box we currently have no one attacking the ball which even though he isn't prolific Heskey is capable of.

Owen on the other hand is not the all round player we would like but if their was one player available who will score you 10 goals from Jan to the end of the season then Owen is our Man.

Then come the end of the season we can get another top class striker in like a Huntelaar with Pav, Owen and Heskey and I then feel we would have great options once again in the striking department.

Interesting theory, but Owen is the new sicknote and no better than Bent at the moment.

I am presuming you are saying we should get him in for January?

Well, I would be surprised if we manage to sign one player in Jan, let alone a seasoned striker.

As for Huntelaar, we can all forget that now. We aren't going anywhere this season without a good cup run.

And we are looking dangerously close to a relegation scrap.

Who would want to join us now? Nobody.

owen and heskey would be a couple of great signings, although i worry about Owens fitness problems.

Just about the most sensible thinh i've read on here in ages

If we could keep Owen fit it would be a fantastic double signing for us in our current trouble and is a ready made working partnership

Not the worst suggestion I have heard (that was "Bring back Teddy") but I would prefer to hold off on Heskey until Pav has found his feet. I would be very happy with a fit Owen. He would probably bring in some leadership as well.

Owen should have been attempted after Keane left, would have been a good replacement for him. People questioned Woody being the new sicknote when we signed him, seems to have played quite a few games so far. Owen is now a player with something to prove and i reckon if we got him in January he would suddenly get a few less injuries as he would have more motivation. All though that is hard to say atm as we are foot of the table but that should hopefully change before January!

Sounds like a silly idea, but why not?

I think we need Owen more than Heskey though

There's only one Emile Heskey,
One Emile Heskey,
He used to be shite
But now he's alright
Walking in a heskey wonderland

I've read worse ideas than this, but doubt very much we'd be able to afford Owen's wages.

Refusing to pay over the odds is one of the reasons we've been screwed so heavily this season

Lads you know it make's sense. I look at our strikeforce at the moment and would the sight of them send a shiver down your spine if you were a defender about to play against them? NO. At least with Heskey you know what ever mood he is in he will be awkward to play against.

Him and Owen are a successful partnership and proved that when they last played for England against Russia.
