You lot make me laugh... TT may be a good player but he's a good utility player, he's not a first choicer and never will be, more to the point Ramos has never given anyone any reason to believe that he rates him as highly as you do. There's no way he'll start at DM and were this the real world I'd take any amount of money on that.

There's a strange exaggeration process which goes on here whereby some more limited players get over-rated (Lee, TT) and some of the better ones get under-rated (JJ, Chimbo). I think it happens because some people under-rate the limited ones and over-rate the good ones and as a result there's a back-lash, an over-compensation. There's also the 'not-playing-much' phenomenum, whereby some players who missed out for a period get better in their absence, this especially happens when the team plays badly in the mean time ala the first third of this season.

i think you're completely wrong. JR and GP have already come out and said how much they appreciated TT after his arsenal performance, his understanding of the game and especially singling out how much of a tactical player he is, one who can get in good positions and make a tactical foul if necessary.

a one off game against chelsea is certainly going to be a tactical affair, TT all the way for me.

I'll go for Zokora, Huddlestone is good but still not quite as comfortable on the ball like Zokora. < THiS could be offensive to huddlestone lovers, I'm REALLY sorry if so!.

O'hara getting better,

Tainio, is obviously many people's choice, But playing against a diving cheating bunch of twats like Chelsea, I can see tainio being sent off before the break!.

So I say put hudd at back to help Woody, with hutton back in the place where zokora was playing last thurs. and Zokora in middle with JJ.

I woulnd't mind seeing how Gilberto plays in midlfield as well.

Don't even mention Boetang, :bang: I was so happy with ramos dropping the twat from the squad on thurs, Especially after I was flamed for slating him!.

Ah, DefoeFan, you definitely put the "er" in supporter.

As much as I prefer some players to others, under no circumstances are they twats. I suggest you were quite rightly flamed.

Pow!

People use the word "twat" instead of the word "fool" in conversations. That's all I'm saying!. I think this board is very edgy!. you really can't say anything condesending on here about players no matter how badly they play!. Yet it's ok to insult each other like I have been in other threads, Which is why some of my replies are now stroger worded then others!.

You can say they had a bad game. But he's had plenty of average to good ones and for a young kid settling in to a new league, I think people were probably having a go because of your judgment in such a short space of time. Yeah he's not been great but he's got a loooooooong way to go yet mate - and it's pointless writing him off at this stage.

Definitely.

I'd also say "twat" is a lot stronger than "fool".

Tainio is the type of player JJ needs to play next too, but as great as i think TT is, we need a better option  the guy puts in 110% everygame and you can always count on him putting in tackles and breaking up play, but pasing and dribbling isnt up to scratch! so a new improved TT would be the answer... untill then its clsoe between TT and Hudd IMO

Must be the job i do, We call each other twats & prats all the time,LOL. and just laugh it off.!.

Thing is though!,. danny murphy wasn't given a chance was he!. He never really got off to a good start and look where he is now!. I could probably think of others. Poor old Bent is the same. People are already writing him off, yet he hasn't had as much time on the field as boetang. mind you we didnt spend 16Million on boetang oopss

I just wonder how many chances boetang will get before he puts in a good performance!.

Hi DC_Boy - guess what? We're going to respectfully disagree on this one.

YP Lee was on the bench, so I'm still not sure why Juande didn't play Chimbo at RB and Lee at LB on Thursday. I'm not sure Chimbo needs much more experience at LB - he's already proven he can do a DEFENSIVE job there.

Zokora has the natural attributes to play at RB for me, and at FB he'll be less, um, aerially challenged than at CB.

I just don't see Teemu as a RB. He offers us nothing going forwards from FB, and he often seems unsure of his bearings. Which is not Teemu's fault - he's only played there a dozen or so times in his life.

Also, with Hutton, Gunter and Chimbo still in the squad, I don't think there's any longterm future for Teemu at RB, so playing him there just seems a waste to me.

But, respect, as always. :)

As an aside, it's amusing but a little sad to see that the Goat got more votes for CM than KPB....

Did you not notice how solid we were until Chimbonda switched to right back? After that we conceded, and they created a few chances down their left.

This is technically off-topic, but...

I thought we were very solid until Cerny unfortunately dropped the ball. Then we seemed to get unnecessarily panicky.

However, I suspect your argument is that Chimbo is a better defender at LB than RB. On the face of it, this is entirely counter-intuitive - Chimbo is a right-footed player who's played at RB for his entire career.

The only two reasons I can think of why we might be weaker defensively with Chimbo at RB rather than LB are:

i) he's less comfortable at LB so he concentrates more;
ii) he doesn't bother trying to join in attacks from LB, whilst he does from RB.

With regard to i), my opinion has always been that Chimbo is a very good defender when he's concentrating. And it's the job of our coaching staff to ensure that he is paying attention - regardless of whether he's playing at RB or LB.

With regard to ii), that is basically an argument about whether the coach wants his FBs to attack, or alternately to do a Santini and not cross the halfway line. I would argue from watching a lot of Sevilla, and from the signings of Hutton and Gilberto, that Ramos likes his FBs to attack.

Now, if your FBs are constantly pushing forward, there will always be defensive gaps. At Sevilla, it is the primary job of Poulsen to cover those gaps. When Dani Alves bombs foward, Navas (the RMer) is usually overlapping or switching inside. It's Poulsen who drops in to cover from his C/DM position. At Spurs, I think we've been most effective when Tainio has been in CM precisely because Teemu has the tactical team intelligence to recognize where and when we're exposed and cover. If nobody's covering for Chimbo's forward forays, as in Prague, we will get exposed - inevitably.

That's the long answer. The short answer is that I think Chimbo is an outstanding FB when he concentrates, and if he's going to get forward, then someone in the team has to be assigned to cover the inevitable holes that will result.

why does Boateng have no votes!?

anyway I picked Hudd because I believe he has great talent, and believe, because he can offer that special ball. etc.

But Temmu plays better with Jenas.......

its a tough one this!!

I think there are two main problems with the Hudd and I think they could both be exposed if he plays against Chelsea.

1) He's not good when not given time on the ball. Chelsea tend to play quite narrowly and whoever plays in their defensive role out of Mikel/Makalele/Essien will simply hunt him down and stop him making the passes that make him dangerous.

2) Positionally he's a bit of a pillock and when they're top scorer is the player he would have to be picking up that would be a recipe for disaster. Hudd would lose Lampard time and time again and even if JJ did come back and sort that out then we'd be losing one of our best attacking threats.

It's got to be TT for me for Sunday. Hudd is a good player but this is not the game for him.

and I agree TT for sunday or if man marking a big (not in size:wink:) man is needed!!

I think Hudd is getting better at not loosing possetion i.e. I think he has learnt to cope with having little time on the ball!
for I havent seen him give away possetion cheaply yet since his "new look".

the second point I agree with you!

I voted for Teemu, along with the majority.

Did we even miss Zokora when he was at the African nations?

Not sure Ramos feels the same way though.

Even Diarra is looking a better player than Zokora - he was bought as a potential Viera/Makele and he's nowhere near as far as I can see.

Not sure if he was ever going to be the next Vieira. I do think he gets a rough deal tho. Maybe not the best footballer ever but he can fill in a number of positions.

But i agree he aint lived up to the promise he showed in the world cup 06
