I'm just relieved we have reached 40 points

Like you I'm glad that we have secured 40 points (and safety!) for I can't see us securing that many more between now and May. We've been pretty much awful for over 15 months now and how we remain in 5th bemuses me; I guess it's down to the paucity __ Liverpool excepted of course__ of our rivals this term. How I would love to share the optimism of some on this forum who still talk of top 4 'cause it ain't gonna happen. It breaks my heart to witness the way we now play, so dull and unimaginative. So sad.

I think we will be ok in a couple of years time. Mourinho and Kane will be gone by then. Obviously.

Well that was a predictable bag of shite. Almost identical to the Leipzig performance, and the 1-0 and 2-1 scorelines flattered us if we're being objective and honest.

Quite frankly, with the set up in both games that was only way we going to score a goal.

I hate admitting it but if I'm being realistic if we come up with similar performances in the next 5 games we will be scoring no more than 2-3 goals, and we all know what that means, if we're lucky we might scrape a couple of draws against Burnley and Norwich but that will be about it. As for the other three we will lose by 2 or 3 goal margins.

At the moment don't have the defensive capabilities to soak up pressure for 70-75 mins by keeping clean sheets and then nick winners. Too much of our defending seems last ditch, and every time a team get a corner against us it seems like whoever the opposition are they nearly always get their head first to the ball and if we don't concede it ends up like desperate pin ball with us just about scraping it clear or the opposition miss glorious chances presented to them.

So either the players left available buck their ideas up and stop crying over something we can do nothing about, getting Kane and Sonny back or we're heading for an abrupt end to our season by the time we play West Ham and 7th or 8th spot.
Oh to be as blessed as Burnley. They have two strikers crocked, but yet have two more. How Burnley can have 4 strikers while we have 1 is a Daniel Levy shower of p_ss.

Yes we looked terrible, but I think not enough is being said about the fact that Chelsea had no mid-week game, and we played CL on Wednesday. Frankly half our team look shattered by the 60 minute mark. Lo Celso's uncharacteristic high tackles were likely affected by fatigue. Its egregiously unfair to give one team such an energy advantage. JM even said this "Our attacking players are not strikers and are in huge levels of fatigue, so very, very difficult for us."

The problem is that we looked absolute shite from the 10 minute mark.

The much bigger problem is nobody - and I mean NOBODY - seems to know what we are as a team. What's our gameplan? What's our "thing". Fine we don't press high and we do low block but what's next?

Even if it doesn't work I'd be happier to know that we have a fucking plan. A system. A strategy. A fucking way to play. A way to win. But I can't fucking see it and nobody can tell me what it is.

This isn't Mourinho. He always had a way - even if it wasn't working you knew what he was trying to do and knew which players he needed to make it work.

I have no idea what he's trying to to do. And I don't think the players do either.

And he has given up. He's waiting for July. Fine - but give me something to look forward too. Something to indicate that this team is training for a future and not just living desperately week to fucking week. I don't care about this season as long as I see green shoots.

I don't see any fucking green shoots.

It's getting very very hard to hold faith. And if the players don't buy in then - well, they've already got one manager sacked...

Well is is quite clear. A low block to ensure defensive stability, and to use the electric pace of Sonny, Lucas, Bergwyn to quickly counter. It has generally worked and I'm not sure why you are concluding that he has given up and doesn't have a way - he has the third best results in the league. Not exactly by pottering about and telling the players to wait for the summer. He joined us late November 2019 - that's 3 months. Not exactly a lot of time to turn the team into Barcelona is it?

We were awful for nearly a year under Poch (I mean a top 4 side which hasn't won an away game since Dec 2018?). What is this "game plan" that people keep talking about - brilliant fluid one touch passing and neat finishes into the net? He is using the skills of the players in the squad to get results and its been reasonably successful. Imagine Liverpool without Mane and Salah? Who's going to score the goals? Jordan bloody Henderson?

Its been a tough season - he's doing the best he can. Yeah its not great watching the team but the reality is that it hasn't been for a while. The Champions League run papered over a lot of cracks.

Chelsea have been massively under performing considering their squad. They have raised their game when they played us both times. We are screwed with our injuries but the work rate compared to them especially in the first half was unforgivable. Jose needs to come out with a plan b that can actually work against a good team.

I'm sorry but I dont see this as a tactical screw up from Jose. 8 of our line up played Champions League football on Wednesday night and then in a Saturday early kick off in a crucial game against a rested raring to go top quality opponent. We looked in control and we tested the keeper a couple of times before they scored the first goal. We looked shot after the second goal but we fought - gave everything. It wasnt good enough I agree but we couldnt ask for more in my view.

We have 8 days to work on a plan for our game with Wolves. Six Days ago, we were on a high after the Villa win.
Yes it does look gloomy but we see what we come up with next Sunday. Hopefully no excuses.

Every time we play a rival around us they seem to raise their game the question is why can't we raise ours.

I suggest everyone adapts their expectations. We will continue to have a couple of good results followed by a bad one as the consistency can't be built yet, especially when key players are injured and other key players are being asked to play consecutive games for 90 mins.

This would exceed my expectations.
