With our current scouting "restructuring" in the offing,I was wondering how people felt about what type of players Tottenham should be looking to buy.

I would prefer that we bought British players and supplemented them with our own youth players.I know English players come at a premium but we have always traditionally had a good mixture of British players at our club and I think that it's the lack of British players that is part of our problem at the moment.

We seem to have lost our identity over the past couple of years and slinging up some "to dare is to do" placards around the place is not enough. Our true identity needs to be reflected on the pitch.

Personally I don't care as long as they're good enough. In a dream world we would have a team filled with players from North London but never going to happen. It's nice when we have players that we've developed make it to the England team though.

Honestly, I don't think British recruitment would make a difference. Our most consistently 'up for it' player of recent years was VDV. I think it's a state of mind, not a condition of birth as to whether you really feel that drive to win for us.

You make it seem as though it is black and white, but it isn't. There are good and bad deals to be had on both Britain players and players from abroad. The most important thing is to bring in players that fit our managers playing style (and/or mindset), and to develop an academy of talent that he can sufficiently supply our first team with talented players throughout the future.

I don't care really as long as they are suited to the PL and how the manager wants us to play.

Whooopps, I thought this was about local goods and groceries vs imports.

Can I rescind my vote, please?

Yeah question is too black and white. What I will say though is that there needs to be a balance and a squad that has a mix of qualities, whatever the nationality. Currently we are full of young-ish players who need time to develop, and are short on 2/3/4 dependable players who offer experience and leadership.

I don't care where we get players from so long as they're a) good, b) who the manager wants and c) have a clear defined place in the team. Hopefully we'll make enough advancements in our youth team that we don't have to buy two average players for £12m and instead can just put the money together towards one good player.

We need players with character, regardless of nationality.Rooney is England captain - hardly suggests a wealth of leadership and character among English players....

The problem with the lack of British qaulity is due to the popularity and foriegn players playing in the PL. Kids aren't given a chance and if they dont immediately set the place alight they are tarred as sh*te. Harry Kane a prime example, If you had of asked us all would he make it in the PL the majority of us would have said no, so far he has proved us wrong. Young players need to play if they are ever to develop.

Anyone got a breakdown of the percentage of non-nationals playing is Germany, Spain, Italy etc complared to the PL?

I haven't voted because to me it doesn't matter that much. It's ability and temperament that are key.
It would be better if we could develop the majority of new players through our academy and not have to purchase more than an odd 1 or 2.

english players are underrated on here, but then we all knew that.

Which English players could we have signed recently that would have taken us to the next level? I can't think of that many, we missed out on Welbeck big time and it would have been nice to have been able to sign some of the Southampton's players before they went to Liverpool. Most of the top English players end up at Utd, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and now even Arsenal so who's left after that?

I don't care where they're from as long as they're good enough but I agree it would ideal if we had some top English players, our youth team seems our best bet at the moment.

Why not just buy good players that are available and fit a system? Why impose stupid arbitrary restrictions on your recruitment policy when you are already struggling?

Whilst we continue to invest consistently in youth, wherever they're from, Spurs will continue to thrive. With our new academy/training facilities we have more possibility than ever to convince young talent to join us, particularly as they can see 3 academy players now getting game time on a regular basis.
Buying over priced English/British players IMHO just does not make sense.

Seeing as England are shit and the other British teams are worse, I'd rather get foreign players with premiership experience personally.
There's the odd exception to the above, Gareth Bale, but by and large, British footballers are just bang average and over priced.

I know I don't post here much anymore but fuck me, buy British?

How about we just buy the best players we can. Personally I don't give a fuck where the come from and usually British players are overpriced and have incredibly average skill sets
