For me, three is plenty. Given the cynical way subs are often used i'd be struggling to see the overall benefit. An extra few minutes more lost to each game where the ball is only in play for not very long as it is. If you're going to have five then you either need to make games longer or ban the use of subs in the last ten minutes or something because far far too often they are used as nothing more than a time wasting tactic..

I see your point and i hate the last minute subs...

The five subs rule means that you cant have five individual subs. I think three need to be at once, and the other two can be done individually. So essentially it is the same as having three subs now in terms of time. But I take your point that generally it is a time wasting tactic - the referees need to make sure they add the half a minute. Dont trust em though to be honest

I hope the game goes forward if the list is contained to the names we've seen, I want to see how the squad is going to step up properly, not in an away game across europe but in a league game, where we're going with the best of what is available to us, I want to see whose committed to the cause under Conte despite limited game time. Brighton have their own problems, we have a talented squad, we should be able to put a team out that has the quality to get over the line.

I think the five subs rule will change next season given the circumstances around the world cup etc - there are more and more games now and three subs is pretty archaic.
It's going to be five across the board soon whether people like it or not.

Following a number of requests from confederations, associations, leagues and other key stakeholders for this option to be introduced permanently in the Laws of the Game (2022/23 edition), FAP-TAP today recommended that competitions should be able to decide on increasing the number of substitutes according to the needs of their football environment, while the current number of substitution opportunities (three plus half-time) should stay the same.
Completely off topic but I sniggered far too much at FAP-TAP.

I prefer three but would like keeper changes exempt. To me, Harry's adventure at goalkeeping a few years was a joke. You ought to be able to replace your keeper in that situation.

If Son and Moura are both out, ordinarily you’d say yeah great chance for Stevie B and Gil to stake claims (with Gil on left for me, as even though Bergwijn better inverted on that side he can still do better on right than Gil).

I also did like early signs of the link-up between Gil and Kane, who may favour having a more creative winger alongside him.

But given how shocking our reserve players have been when stepping up, it’s a concern.

Looking at other areas of pitch, with any luck Reggie will be available for Thursday and Sessegnon then can play Sunday(not good for me mind as I have just put Reggy in my ff team ??).

Left centre-back is also a bit of a concern as the right-footed centre backs in our squad really seem to struggle and Dacies has bought good balance there - I’d imagine Sanchez would be trusted over Tanganga that side but he is much better on the right.

Unless if Reggy is fit Conte may try him left centre back for that game? Bit crazy but may be better option than Sanchez or Tanganga?

He‘s more of a defender than Sessegnon too.

Who even knows who we’ll play against Rennes mid-week!

Hope game is postponed. Is Rodon out, or surely he plays LCB

Oh yes that’s a good shout as he’s tended to play that side.

Forgot about him after banging his drum last season to play, as managers seem to ignore him.

I just feel if Rennes game goes ahead, we wont be able to justify Brighton game being postponed.

Be mad if no Norwich players get it from us, yet somehow we end up with a shedload.

It's very unlike to catch it out outside, also while sporting. The vast majority of the infections take place inside, mainly in poorly ventilated rooms. Possibly 99.5% or more.

There is absolutely no reason to keep distance from other people walking by in a park for instance.

Didn’t our players catch it from Ivan toney while playing brentford though?

Well he tested positive just after playing us and then 2 of our players were “ill” and missed the Norwich game and then we had an outbreak. 2+2 = 356 ;-)
Doesn't prove anything, but it doesn't make much sense. By definition impossible to disprove it either though.

It's way more likely that one of our players or coaches caught it somewhere inside, possibly from a family member or in a restaurant, and spread it in the dressing room for instance.

My guess is a player caught it from friends/family/socializing etc
Then it spread from there. However, if this Omicron then that seems so transmissible, then yes maybe it will be transmitted berween opposing players, something that didn't seem to happen with previous variants

Hope we get postponements for next two Prem games
Hope obviously too, that illnesses aren't serious, and all are fit to play in the game after
