I can appreciate the tactics, but let's be honest it was a terrible fight. Thank God it was on at a reasonable hour, or i would have been really pissed.

I agree, but I saw an interview with Hearn saying he can't do that for 12 rounds, if it saves you from getting knocked out that would be my tactic! :D

& that's what he did by all accounts, perhaps I should claim a % of his purse for the advice.

Proper hard man aren't you? Glad you're not a fairy like the boxing heavyweight champ of the world, you are a massive bellend though.
Im not the one who said I wasn't going to talk you anymore over what? You liking boxers and I like fighters, come on you left yourself open to me making fun of you. Seriously I think you took it bit more personal than I did. Of course I was going prod you a bit this is the boxing thread.

Second he mentioned his weight it was obvious it was going to be 12 rounds of feeding a jab and taking it on the scorecards. Bar a couple of moments it was virtually textbook.

I wonder if the same people that found it boring also hate Mayweather fights, or take a look at Ali's relatively low KO rate and think he was a bum

Don't agree at all that it was a terrible fight. Both fighters cut in the first two rounds and AJ caught Ruiz with some great shots in the first 6 rounds. Many of those shots would have seriously hurt most heavweights and AJ could have gone for a knockout.

A large part of the reason AJ didn't win the first fight was because he went for a knockout before Ruiz was hurt. He didn't make the same mistake twice.

Amazing that people are criticising AJ for boxing but not Ruiz for not going for it in the last 4 rounds.

Not taking anything personally. I just think people who call world class boxers fairies are bellends.

We'll have to agree to disagree. As a a spectacle I found it dire. May i ask if one of the klitchkos had put up an identical performance against Ruiz, would you have been similarly enthused.

Well there is a few more fights that are going to establish if he is world class and to be quite honest I think over the span of his career hes going to fall short of that. I've watched the sport long enough to know this even the most tactical fighters were willing to get busier than AJ did last night, especially in the rematch when they had been humiliated in the first, And TBH he was humiliated, test of a true fighter is that he gets back in and rights a knockout. I was never a fan of Lennox I thought he was one of the most boring HWs but when he got KOd he still got back in to return the favour with Rahman. I don't think he has got that in him and last night was him showing us that. Respectfully the sport should be more than about points.

For me the performance was the way it was because the fighters are very even. When there is an even contest then I have no problem with a boxer using his jab well and ifrequired seeing out the last few rounds. Who the fighters are doesn't matter to me.

I have never criticised Mayweather or the Klitchkos fighting styles. Once a boxer is fighting at a world championship level then tactics become different.

The fact that he is world champ makes him world class. Kind of what world class means.

Well you know as well as I do that division is littered with boxers that have held the title that were far short of being World Class

More than a few fights coming up for Aj now where he will be tested.

Pretty awful fight to watch, but AJ did what he had to do. He knew getting into a slug fest was dangerous, and boxed clever.

I've got no interest in a 3rd go of it, in what ever country pays Hearn the most, that's for sure. Until he puts the belts on the line against Fury or Wilder, I ain't interested.

Definitely not interested in a 3rd fight right now.

Ruiz needs a new challenger, Whyte would be a very competitive fight.

Time for AJ to get his fight against Wilder or Fury.

Anyone who watched this expecting a fight and a war were foolish. Ruiz has never been finished and has good hands and power. The way AJ fought was the only way he could win that boxing match. Keeping ruiz at arms length, jabbing and moving his feet. There is a reason he stopped hitting the weights and slimmed down so he can move more freely.

Ruiz let the fame and money get to him, he put on way to much weight.

Wilder isnt a world class boxer but his right hand is world class. Doesnt matter how well you box against him, if he hits you flush, its curtains. Unless you're tyson fury.
