2.5 games into the season, and two things really stand out - first is how much better coached we are. Players are moving into positions, utilizing spaces, and looking for passes. Second, we are a much more (better) technical side now - with a M of Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison - but even having Porro slide in as an inverted fullback, and Udogie has good technical ability, and both Romero and VdV are comfortable on the ball. So much better agains the press.

Agree. He us just too slow. Like he is running in mud
He isnt the fastest but his issue at the moment isnt speed.

He has lost his rhythm.

Its funny that people are saying he doesnt work in these situations when under Conte he had that brilliant 3 month period where he was turning defenders inside and out on the counter.

He can do it he is just out of rhythm. That comes with time.

Best side by a mile but can still see where we are not the finished article yet, small margins mean things didn't quite come off. I have to believe there'll be even more space later on.

Maddison has great body language. Didn’t get the through pass he wanted from Kulu on the break and put his hands up disappointingly.

Then straight at half time he goes to him and says what he wanted in a positive way.

Really is a leader after three games.
He's the captain out there. If he had been here a season earlier I think he would have got it over Son.

Solomon comes in, or Perisic comes in on the left, and Sonny switches to the right.
I know Perisic did OK in pre season but I really, really think this system will work much better with two fast wide forwards flying at their opponents.

Kulu for me is looking very laboured in his movements. Looks a bit too heavy and as though he is running in quicksand. Becoming predictable in the last third.

Need a quick second to kill the game.

I guarantee Bournemouth will get a poxy deflection or rebound and somehow bundle one into dangerous area, we can live with it if we’re up 2-0, can’t live with it if it’s only 1-0.

Let's be honest, Kulu did not have a stellar season last year but Conte took the blame for it - at some point you have to look at the player himself. I'd put Son out right and Perisic left, they are both two footed so the defender never knows which way to 'show' them.

We should be 3 up. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite us. I’d be delighted to see us control the second half, like we’ve seen in the other games this season.

I thought Son was actually looking a lot better than he had recently and was showing some signs of being back to what he can be soon.
I agree, today was the first time I’ve seen him run at top speed for a long time, hopefully his full fitness is back now.

Those 5 former players you mention.

That is basically an entire new line across the middle

We don't need him to come short or move into channels. He leaves the box complete barren and provides no threat. When Maddison or Son look up, he's not where he should be. IMO.

He’s helping massively when he drops short at times, it allows us to use him to escape the Bournemouth press we play into his feet, he lays it off and we’re out.

If he just stands in the box, there’s no outlet for some moves and we’re reliant on one player bearing two or three players.

The whole point is Richy coming short, helping out, laying it off, then bombing into the box to be ready for the next phase of the move.

Bissouma morphing into Dembele Mk2 is rather satisfying. Quicker and higher work rate too.

Tbh the Kulu we are seeing these days is the same Kulu that was at Juve and the player I didn’t think we should have signed.

I can’t tell if it’s just a mentality thing tho because we saw what he’s capable of in those first 6s months. He does have the ability but he’s so far off it currently. Ether way I think Solomon should be given a start there even if he prefers the left.
Lost his way a bit but a lot of that was under the grimness of last season, let’s give him some time to see if he can find his form.
