How so? I wouldn't say he's any better than Lennon. It's a case of the players they're working with.
Lennon's delivery is really hit and miss, Bentley could apparently hit an olive from 30 yards. He plays excellently from deep and running to the line.

Lennon has pace but, because his talents are more ground based, skin-the-man type plays, he can often be shut out of games. If he was given the chance to run just behind the front two as an attacking central midfielder, allowed the width of the park, i think he'd be much more effective but we really don't have much tried and tested cover on the right side, a position often overlooked because of this obsession with Lennon.

If Bentley came in and Wendy didn't want to play Lennon in the middle, or Lennon just doesn't work in the spot, then it'd be immense competition to fight for a starting place

Doesn't matter if Lennon is better or not, Bentley would improve our side, no doubt.

Bently would add a diffrent veration to lennon, lennon has the pace but at times isnt effective, bently offers better crossing and more general team play and set plays as well, wouldnt ind him if he came, he is a good player

Like i said i am not going into my views on Aaron Lennon again. Check the other lennon threads. I would prefer Bentley over Lennon

We already have Aaron Lennon. We should be focusing on buying players in positions we lack quality. This being the goalkeeper position, in central midfield and maybe a left winger. Ramos will do this.

You are right , people are forgetting that we've spent beyond our revenue over the last two windows and are not some bottomless pit . Hard choices have to be made we can't have everything .

If the club can really support a net spend of £30m and raise £12m in sales , then I'd prefer they used the lot to get a top keeper , cover for Ledley and Woody and one super central midfielder .

Sure I'd love Ashley Young and David Villa too but not at the expense of getting the absolutely best players in the positions we are weakest .

Even though O'Hara is a central midfielder who can cover left back if needed?

A shame but possibly true. Posesses a huge amount of intelligence on the pitch and has nearly always done an excellent job but lacks the athleticism all top clubs look for these days.

Would love both. Can't see either happening. Think bigger clubs would swoop for both if there was any sign that we were trying to snap up either

Bentley is class which i elaborated more on in the how do we improve our squad thread. He is the future of England's right side of midfield, so how anybody could not want him at Spurs is beyond me. The boy has it all and he's still young.

Villa? Class again. Would he fit into the Prem? Who knows. I'd imagine so though. Only thing is, will he fit in with our other strikers? Would he push out Keane? Fuck knows to be honest.

But Bentley? All day long. He is just what we need. Lennon can play in the hole or where ever, perhaps Bentley could move more central. Who gives a shit, he'd be a great buy.

And on that note, i'm off to bed to watch a HD final cut of Bladerunner which just took me about a year to download.

Both ace players.

I'd love both, My only concern for Villa is his height, couldnt really play with Keane unless we changed our style, and they both drop deep.

Which means he plays with Berba which is an absolutley amazing thought, but leaves Keane in no mans land a bit....

Then again, competition for places and that.

Does anyone have the link to this story by the way?, I can only find the spanish and italian versions..

I'd prefer Lennon to Bentley on the right wing only because he offers a dying art in football 'dribbling', Lennon is our Hleb/Rocisky/Ronaldo and our goal deficit is an indication to these sorts of attackers IMO the make opposing defencies retreat which allows space and opportunities of attack.

I do realize the quality in which Bentley can offer but I personally feel we have in our squad a player with if not better quality on the ball then Bentley = G Bale.

I know you are trying to tempt me into going on about what i think about Lennon (which can all be found in the Lennon thread). I am not going into it all again but Lennon and 'dribbling' dont go together. If you call knocking the ball 20yards infront of you and hoping your pace will get you to the ball before the defender then Lennon can dribble.

How you can compare him to Ronaldo (or even the other two from the scum) is beyond me. Bentley could offer us far more than Lennon.
I also would nt be surprised if Lennon was sold in the summer. Not saying i would be happy with that but i can se it happening

lennon won't be sold in the summer. anyone who thinks that is just an idiot. Bentley would be a good addition to our squad, but we need to upgrade on our Goalkeeper, central midfielders/left wing first...also a first choice CB if King doesn't make a full recovery.

I agree he won't be sold, because there are far more pressing areas to strengthen, but I do agree with a lot of what Paul says. Spurs fans tend to massively over-rate Lennon.

with steed, bale and possibly even gilberto, i'm not sure the left is as big a priority as it was before. it's not like we're lacking in goals. cm on the otherhand.......
