Its obviously not his job to be likeable to others, other than his players and own fanbase.

But my word he really isnt someone you can take too.

Petulant, behaves like a prat on the touchline and then gets smarmy in press conferences about how he had "65 formations' or whatever it was.

When his players stop enjoying the football they play, he may start to find a few of them don't like him anymore

I bet a few of them can't stand him already. If he is losing it already and they are bottling it already, they might implode this season.

Arteta has always been fairly unlikable, but I think now he's finally lost the plot.

The goal should have been ruled out for the shove on Gabriel, fine.

HIs team also should have been down to 10 for Havertz' dangerous play, just like Nketiah against us.

He can cry conspiracy all he wants, but his team didn't create enough chances to score goals.

Had they won 2-1 would he have been raging us much then?

No. He fails to keep a level head and take proportionate accountability, which filters down to his team.

I think he's a good coach, but a terrible manager.

He's thrown his toys out of the pram too many times now, and it all has the feeling of a late stage Mourinho, Keegan or Benitez tenure.

When even Keown on MOTD isn’t defending Arteta he has to know he’s got problems!

Ahhhh he was trying too though… you could tell he was on the verge of crying during the analysis… his whole speech (trying to be balanced through gritted teeth) was leading to ‘but he pushed him two hands’ (he didn’t sound unbiased at that point). Lineker moved it on making Keown look a bit of a baby.

A goal having a number of possible things wrong with it doesn't automatically disallow it. If all of the issues turn out not to be issues then the number of them doesn't matter.

Reminds me a little of that Chelsea CL semi where Drogba yelled at the camera and called it a "disgrace". The narrative there seemed to be that the sheer number of penalty appeals meant that surely one would have been given, but to my recollection any of the 4 would have been relatively soft (by 2010ish reffing standards). Certainly not all of them were particularly strong arguments. These things shouldn't be decided on weight of numbers.

I think there are several managers who would express their frustration at that goal decision in such a way that you’d feel some sympathy for them, but Arteta’s so unlikeable it just makes you want to watch the goal again and again.

If he coolly said, “the ball looks out - I’m yet to see anything to explain how they concluded it was still in and to me there’s enough there to rule it as out of play”, I’d understand that. I think many would. But he’s so full of rage he refuses to give specific answers even when pressed to do so. If he said about the offside shout, “I can see on the replays enough evidence of when the contact was made to at least draw the lines - so why didn’t the VAR?”, I’d think ‘yeah that’s fair’. But he doesn’t - he just rages in every possible direction without actually saying what he thinks the officials got wrong.

Then, to top it off, when asked about the first half incidents involving Martinelli and Bruno, he deflects and makes some spurious claim about a penalty they should have had (no idea what incident he’s referring to - does anyone?). At that point I reckon everyone in the press conference thought, ‘Alright Mik, you keep being a prick and we’ll just focus on how your team created sod all for 90 minutes in their first tough away game of the season’.

I hope he spends his Sunday waiting for a call from Howard Webb that doesn’t (and shouldn’t) come. They’re not as good as last season and tonight they’ll likely be 5th. Beneath Unai Emery. Lovely.

Arteta has caused his own problems at Arsenal this year. They are not the same side as last year, they aren’t playing with the same intensity and their midfield is as weak as cats piss.

The main problem for them is Havertz. He should have seen red yesterday in my opinion, when you leave the ground in a tackle it’s a red card. But taking that away, he is just an incredibly average footballer. He doesn’t have any single attribute that I could say is worthy of a top 10 team, let alone one that wants to challenge.

Last year they had Partey, Xhaka and Odegaard. Partey was the glue, Xhaka had a purple patch season and suited that ‘8’ role and Odegaard played well.

Look at them now. They aren’t quite sure what to do. Rice is a very good player but I personally think he is the replacement for Xhaka, not Partey. Arsenal are struggling because of it.

Of all the good things Rice can do, being that link between defence and the next stage on the pitch isn’t really one of them. Players like Rodri, Bissouma, Partey are these types of players. They play on the half turn and move the ball up the pitch with quick, incisive passes. Rice is an ‘8’, box to box stamina, strength and drive.

Then to top it off, they are totally reliant on Martinelli and Saka to score all their goals.last year Martinelli was scoring freely, almost a goal every other game. This season he has 1 in 8 and is struggling.

They are not as good as they were last year, and that falls on Arteta and his purchases, and long may it continue!

Thing that’s funny upon rewatching it is if Raya actually catches the ball like a competent keeper should, none of this is a problem.

This would all be moot if Raya hadn’t flapped at the cross. Had he caught it, then it wouldn’t matter if the ball was in or out, or if Gabriel had or hadn’t been fouled.

It’s not the officials Arteta should be angry with.

This made me chuckle. They may as well have adjusted scorelines to go along with their adjusted league table.

Rumour has it, it helps stop the tears too.
