Another big money 'thos guys world class, you're all on trouble now' signong that will probably be benched before the end of the season. Heard it all before. Actually its very rare any big money signing aat any club ends up being anything like what you thought you were getting. Think the money goes to their heads or its too much pressure some of the time.
We'll see.

Just read this by an Arsenal fan on RedCafe:

"As for the people who say, 'oh arsenal are spending so much money but sack staff, what a joke'..

Do you really think we can't pay 55 staff about £2m a year in wages if we wanted to? We literally spent that on two unknown youngsters yesterday. If we wanted to keep them on, we would. They are being let go because of staff cuts which must be a long term plan for the future. It sucks, no doubt about that, but it has nothing to do with class. It's a long term business plan."

Long term business plan. Hmm.

Wow that is bonkers, especially when you consider we probably pay Kane £300k after bonuses and Bale is probably around £250k. What’s he done in the game to justify that sort of wage?! It’s not as if they even bought him in on a free or a low fee.

They seem to get bent over by agents all the time now and long may it continue.

The best bit is they give it all this 'we are a gargantuan institution' bollocks when they wouldn't have a sniff at the player if they weren't offering him twice what he's worth. For reference Kante is on circa £140k a week!

Really hope they fall short again this year, they can't afford to keep missing CL surely.

The whole thing is obscene really. I really can’t get my head around sacking the mascot ffs. It costs way more in reputational damage than it saves on the bottom line.

Even in a week where they make a high profile signing, the news is partially overshadowed by the fact they’ve sacked someone who, for better or worse, is part of the club’s identity.

It's been a massive fuck up for Arsenal.
Firstly to sack your mascot, to save a gigantic £29k per year - which, let's face it is nothing in the world of football - then to have your highest paid and most redundant player publicly offering to pay it himself.
The social media piss-taking they're getting is fully justified.
Just goes to show how little the care about their fans and the 'little people' involved at the club.

As the sign on their stadium says: 'Class is permanent'. They do irony so well.

Arsenal sacking not only just a low paid employee, but one who is literally on the screen each match giving joy to the kids, on the same day that they desperately spunk £45m on a player is West Ham levels of incompetence and lack of self awareness PR wise.

That’s like us sacking Callum the ball boy who assisted us in the CL just so we could save a few quid signing Regulion.

What a shambles they are

Like I said at the beginning of the summer.

I recall a number of gooners saying that they were showing their class through the initial stages of the pandemic. A number of them attacked ours.

Funny that

And they've already played Fulham, so they've already used one cheat code.
"Up, left, left, right, down, down, down, shoot"

"No, Luiz, that's on the controller, not the pitch, you failed Sideshow Bob lookalike!!!"

That’s called downsizing. Cutting your cloth accordingly. A lot of relegated clubs do it. Good vision.
It's such a joke.

But there is truth that Arsenal probably do want to clear the decks, and their is something very political with how they dealt with the scouting department. Arsenal hire a lot more staff then most clubs, and are a bit bloated. But, even if it was about a 'long term' plan. To be cutting jobs at this time, while spending those kind of numbers, it's unforgivable.

I think though, the changes that are happening at Arsenal are gong to have a pretty severe mid term impact. Particularly with the scouting department. Arsenal are looking good from a footballing point of view in the sort term, but there are some really worrying signs beyond that. Clearing the club out of it's enemies to allow a more seamless agent led approach is not a sustainable way of doing things.

apparently arses summer signing cedric soares wont make their PL squad. good thing they gave him a 4 year contract.

Well, they need to snip 2 out of the following 19:
  • Leno
  • Runarsson (just joined)
  • Cedric (just joined after loan)
  • Gabriel
  • Luiz
  • Kolasinac
  • Mari (just joined after loan)
  • Mustafi
  • Sokratis
  • Tierney
  • Ceballos
  • Xhaka
  • Elneny
  • Partey (just joined)
  • Pepe
  • Ozil
  • Willian
  • Alexandre Lacazette
  • Aubameyang
It might signal something if they leave out Ozil. I assume they might choose Kolasinac or Mustafi?

You, Dr. Stephen Freud and others need to have your own comedic football show. Arsenal alone provides plenty of material.
Agreed. It's actually got to the point now that when I see either of their avatars I start laughing before I even read the post. It's like a defence mechanism!
