Wow - Arsenal wooing a player to sneakily undercut the club he plays for and engineer a move to them? Why does that seem so familiar?
What strikes me is Arsenal seem to be determined to piss off other clubs when dealing with them. They've just negotiated with Atletico for the loan deal of Torreira in good faith and then do that.

They could of at least notified them of submitting the fee to La Liga if they were worried about the short amount of time left in the window. It was obviously done out of spite as Atletico refused to budge on their valuation the whole window.

Smacks of their contemptuous offer for Luis Suarez...

Fucking clowns tbh

That's a fair point. Must be the same with Chirpy.

Which is why my three-point plan would have been such a winner.

1) Buy the Gunnersaurus costume
2) Take several compromising photos of Chirpy doing unmentionable things to it
3) Release one a week over the course of the season.

It would have kept morale high, wound the Gooners up, kept Chirpy in gainful employment and thrown a few quid the way of the Gunnersaurus guy. Everyone would have won.

Sadly, though, Ozil's come along and ruined all that. No vision, that bloke.
To be fair he should have more vision than than the hubble telescope.

I know I shouldn't encourage Talkshite as a going concern..but this goon sums up the displaced and repressive self loathing of the modern day sooner.

"Honestly, when England played Croatia I wanted England to loose so I didn't have to watch Kane lift the World Cup."

If a Spurs fan went on radio and said this I'd be embarrassed.

How can you be so petit and consumed by petit bitterness that you want your National team to loose a World Cup semi-final?

This is obviously one idiot on a show for idiots, hosted by Jason Cundy, but I hear a lot of this toxic bile from their fans.

We're consistently finishing above them now, and they simply can't handle it.

If, in an alternate reality, Wilshire lived up to the promise of that one good game against Barca and went on to become England captain, I reckon i'd rather see England lose than him lift the World Cup.

Yes, I really am that petit.

I can't believe that's true. Surely this school of thought only encourages Spammers claim to have won the 1966 World Cup.

Anyway I'm delighted it's us driving them to insane bitterness, petit or otherwise, and not the other way around.

Don't underestimate my capacity for petty bitterness pal.

I do remember a time when I actively wanted England to lose because there were no Spurs players in the team. I don't think I ever phoned TalkSport up about it though.

I saw Arsenal fans who said they'd rather lose the Europa League final if it meant we'd lose the Champions League one. They're a different breed.

I don’t reckon that’s a real person. Probably one of the staff calling in to generate debate. Nobody normal could think like that, I don’t believe there’s anyone that stupid around.

Yeah. I mean my interest in international football has certainly waned in the last few years, but I'd never want England (or Iran, who incidentally, beat the mighty Uzbekistan 2-1 yesterday!) to lose. For any reason, let alone because there's an Arsenal or Chelsea player in the squad. I mean I detest Man City with a burning, all-encompassing passion, and I can't stand to look at Sterling's face, but when he scores for England, I'm glad.

Arsenal fans are just weird.

I had a guy who used to work for me, an Arsenal fan, he never went in many many years I knew him, an armchair supporter but when in 2019 the CL & EL finals were on he put up a FB post saying at least there would be one European Trophy coming to London. So fucking sarky I deleted the fucker and ain't spoke to him since - keeps trying to add me back.

TBH though, they got used to cheering on France during the days their team was essentially +50% French.

Anyway. I genuinely think that they will be a bigger threat than most are expecting. Just like us, they have done their shopping sensibly and brought in the right players to solve the problems they were having. I don't think they have as much depth as us and I do think that an injury to Leno would royally fuck them, but their starting XI is good and they have options.

It would be quite funny to see him break his back as he tried to lift the thing.
