Hi Folks

I have been foruntate to be given an opportunity to attend the Bolton game on 3 December. I'll be in the Captains Club for a full VIP day, including Lunch, half time refreshments and a post match buffet.
I'm going it alone from NI and have figured my flights ok, into Luton on Saturday morning, home on Sunday morning from Stansted. I need advice on where to stay?
Am i best staying local to WHL considering I'll have had a few drinks and will be out of WHL by 7 I'd imagine. Where is there to stay around WHL?

Or should I aim to make my way at that point to an airport hotel, or somewhere like Kings Cross?

All advice welcome.

Thanks.

I wouldn't stay that close to WHL (I can't even think of anywhere that you could stay) - head back towards Kings Cross/Euston would be my advice, although an airport hotel will probably be cheaper.

Enjoy the prawn sarnies. As the poster above said there aren't really that many hotels in Tottenham except Daves knocking shop and you have to pay by the hour in there. Find yourself a travel lodge, Ibis or Etap to stay in. They are pretty much everywhere and cheap.

There is a Travelodge right by Euston station incidentally. There's also a Premier Inn about 2 mins walk from Kings Cross. Both cheap and cheerful but in an area of London with lots of friendly pubs/bars.

Good advice.

Worth shopping around the budget hotels in that area, as between the usual travelodge/premier inn suspects, at certain times they're not quite as budget as you'd imagine.

http://www.laterooms.com is a decent website for booking accomodation.

To echo the above there's no where (decent) really to stay that close to WHL but you can get to Liverpool St/Victoria in 30 mins or less and there are a multitude of decent places to stay in and around there.

Depending on what you want to spend obviously! Travelodge's tend to be a decent budget bet.

Out of WHL by 7? Pfft...lightweight.

But yeah don't stay anywhere near the ground. Easiest thing would be to find an airport hotel near Stansted. You can get there pretty easily (and pretty late) from Liverpool Street (takes about an hour) which means you can stay in the City for as long as you want.

Hold...apparently the service from Liverpool Street is a bus replacement at the moment but that still works.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I'm flying into Luton on Saturday morning, never done that - whats best route to WHL?
I'm flying out of Stansted on Sunday, which is easy to get to from Liverpool Street on Stansted Express, so Liverpool Street station area best to stay for a pub, club and cheao hotel for 1? And easy to get to from WHL after game.

Talkshow host, I presume that I'll be asked to leave by 7. Can I stay on longer? I'm there for the long haul. As long as I can find my way to my hotel I'm happy enough. And if I am staying in WHL for much longer than that an airport hotel might be the best bet.
How long is there a crowd in the bars around WHL to? I'd happily drink aroung there until 12 then head airport hotel for god nights kip ahead of flight home.

So many options - decisions decisions. And I am not a great decision maker.

Do not stay in a hostel in Kings Cross. You will be robbed blind. I live in Camden and know a few people unlucky enough to stay in hostels down there and it always ends in tears (or a fight). There is a Welcome break? (the one that Lenny Henry advertises) 2 minute walk from Kings Cross station. Book early to get the best deals.

From Luton take a train to king's cross. To get to WHL from kings cross you have a few options, can take the victoria line to seven sisters and walk or take bus to WHL, or vic line to tottenham hale and then overground to WHL, you can also take 3 lines to Liverpool st then overground to WHL. I would advise you to check engineering works before you set out as there's always some lines affected at the weekend.

Thanks ikky. Its my first time in Luton Airport. Arrive in about 10.30, which gives me 3 hours to get to WHL for my pre game lunch. I presume that is loads of time?
I think staying at Stansted or Liverpool street make the most sense as thats the route I'll be taking on Sunday morning. Anything else is adding needless distance and time to my journey.

Plenty of change? What would I need that for? ( I know I'm missing something. Peep show?)

To be fair I don't normally hang around for ages, but I've been there 3-4 hours after a game and there's always people around (particularly if we've won). As it's a Saturday there'll probably be somewhere you can find the 5.30 kickoff (Scum v Fulham), such as Rudoplphs or the Elbow Room.

I suspect there'll also be a decent crowd of Spurs fans back at Liverpool St in the Wetherspoons there after the game as well.

Ah dont know what to be at. I'm metting a guy at WHL who is taking me into the ground for the match day experience. I presumre if he leaves, I'll have to leave, so time depending on him.

Not sure whether to head into liverpool street, hotel in that area, and take myself out for a few hours. Or play it safe, stay around WHL as long as possible, take train to a hotel at Stansted, few beers in hotel bar and at least I am there for flight home in morning. Though as a married man and father I dont get out much, so should take full advantage of being off the leash in London.

I also have one very kind offer from a member of SC to stay in their student accommodation, which I am investigating further. A very kind offer indeed.
