Hi Guys

I'm looking some advice. Ordinarily I fly into Stansted or Heathrow when I am goign over, stay a night or two in London and make a weekend of it.

This time, for the West Ham game, I am doing a day trip. Fly over, go to match, fly home.

Can I ask what any of you recommend for this? #
I can fly into London luton (which I have never done) on a 8.35am flight, arrive at 9.45am giving me 3 hours to get to WHL. I know this is more than doable, but is it easy done? London Luton to WHL? Bus, train, underground?

I can then get a flight from Stansted at 7.45pm home, whcih gives me a couple of hours boozing time after the game. alternatively I can fly from Heathrow at 5.45pm. Would that be a big ask to make that flight after the game?

I'm going with a friend (our two wives are friends actually). Strangely we share the same birthday, 24th March. He's 1981, turns 30 this year, I'm one year his junior. Both life long Spurs fans and our first trip together.

All advice welcome and appreciated.

Easily do-able, Train from Luton to Kings Cross is pretty quick, then a couple of stops on the Victoria Line to Seven Sisters. About an hour and half max.

Thats exactly wot we do when we go over, give yourself plenty of time to get back on the train thou its always a long wait to get on it on the way home. U will have a ball mate .

From Luton Airport you need to get the shuttle bus to Luton Parkway. Then the train to King's Cross/St. Pancras. I suggest you take the Underground from there to Liverpool St and get the overground to WHL. You'll get there with time to spare.

I would go with the Standsted option to get home.

Arriving into Luton at 9.45 will give us plenty of time to get to WHL for 12.45 kick off i presume? The early kick off has thrown a spanner in the works that way.
Do you think we'd be safer waiting on the 7.45 flight from Stansted rather than rush back to Luton for 5.45 flight? Is that more realistic? Spend an hour or two enjoying ourselves with a shandy or two?

Thanks

If it were me I would get the later flight but thats cause I piss about a bit and would rather not have to feel I was in a rush and like you said.....

Mate just hop on the train at Tottenham Hale takes you right into Stansted....takes about 45 mins. Done it loads of times.

I always go into Stansted or Heathrow, depending whether I am going from Belfast International or Belfast City.

Great thanks. I normally stay with mates in Tooting or Clapham, so I am never that rushed and never go to or from WHL/Airport direct, always from where I am staying.

Hopefully those flights will work out alright for me. No delay on the saturday morning or we are in trouble. Only alternative in 6.45am flight to stansted. early start, but we should get there in plenty of time

on a side note - anyone have any problems buying tickets today for hammers game?

I logged on to buy 2 tickets, one for myself, another for a mate, had his members number.

However, it wouldn't let me book under his members number so all i could do was get my own.
Tried another members number but when i went to assign, same problem, something about client not being able to buy for this event.

Thanks for the advice gents

I'm all booked up for my first Tottenham game since the 2008 Carling cup final win over Chelsea. With getting married, moving house and having a baby I havent had the time (or finances) to get to the Lane. But things have settled again, and normal service has resumed. West Ham is a start, with hopefully a champions league quarter final to follow.

I get into Stansted at 8am. Any ideas what I should do until kick-off? Too early for a feed of pints, maybe have a couple closer to kick-off.
and after the game we have 3 hours to spare. Whats the best watering hole to head to after the game?

Thanks.

At last - my first game of the season is approaching :)
Really looking forward to this weekend. An early start, with a 6.30am flight, but thats the cost of supporting Spurs and living in Ireland.

We'll be in Standstead from 8am, so I'd appreciate suggestions on where we should go to fill our time.
Pubs, cafes, even sights to see as we are there so early.
Where's the best place to see players arrive of depart before or after the game? Wouldnt mind a signature or two on my champions league jersey.

Whats the best pub for after the game? We have a few hours to burn. And with it being a London derby and relationsips a bit sore after the Olympic stadium nonsense, is there anywhere a couple of Irish supporting Yids should avoid incase of altercations with the not so happy hammers?

The stansted express is really quick and runs every 15 minutes i think so won't take you long to get into the centre of London. I've jumped on without paying before but got caught last time so maybe not worth the risk. :p I normally take the stansted express to Liverpool street and go to wetherspoons for breakfast and a pint if i arrive in london early. Nice breakfast and pretty cheap. Some other decent pubs and cafes around that area as well if you fancy somewhere different.

I would then take the train from liverpool street to kings cross and then onto seven sisters. Might be some lines crossed at the weekend due to maintenance so you may have to take a different route.

Bell & Hare outside the ground is good for some pre game drinks and worth heading in for a few after as well. Enjoy yourself! :)

If you are going straight to ground, see if you can get off at Northumberland Park. Closer.
