Eriksen usually seems to find Adebayor without difficulty.
Dembele found Adebayor a quite few times on Saturday.
I think Adebayor has been pretty active so far - he is not the problem.

And I suppose Rickie Lambert was too slow to play alongside Lallana and Rodriguez last season. Because that never worked did it?

What nonsense. Adebayor drops because he's a creative player himself, and is looking for the ball because he's not getting it. You would see Soldado do exactly the same thing.
Good at holding the ball etc but I too observed at times against Sunderland, swift counter plays were broken down by Ade, because when a one time ball would have been the correct option, he decided to take two or three touches spin around then pass, momentum broken. Still crucial for our attack but the OP is correct that he needs to decide when to hold or when to pass.

For me, Ade is a poor decision maker. He'll bust a gut chasing a lost cause in an unimportant area, but when he needs to bust a gut to get in the box he dithers about out on the wings.

His trademark "sprint 40 yards to close down the opposing goalkeeper while spending the next five minutes walking back into an onside position" move is kinda infuriating.

That being said, I do think he has put himself about quite well and has been instrumental to quite a few of our goals thus far. I would like to see Soldado given a chance to start pretty soon though. When fit, of course.

They all found Ade with the ball, it's what happens next, that's the problem.
If Bobby would have missed the numerous chances Ade has, he would be crucified.
But as with Townsend, Dembele, Paul, Lennon, etc etc I want to see what Poch can do with these player's.

I've said it in other threads, but here it is again;

Adebayor is not direct enough for this system, and his lack of forward movement is compressing us in the final third. He is often dropped too close to Eriksen/Lamela, or he is drifting onto the left wing. Chadli is the only one who has continuously made runs forward, and, SURPRISE, he is our leading contributor.

When Soldado is healthy, he needs to lead the line.

I completely agree, Soldado is much better at playing the quick little exchanges that Lamela likes to use to get into dangerous areas in and around the box. Ade either does not see these passes, lacks the required technique and speed of thought to play them or he is willingly not playing the ball back. Lamela and Soldado seem to have a great understanding and rapport, getting the best out of Lamela needs to be a priority as he is head and shoulders our most talented player. And if it helps to get the best out of Soldado as well then we are laughing

I've always thought Eriksen should be in both set-ups but Soldado with Chadli and Lamela..... Ade with Townsend and Lennon. . In pre-season friendlies Soldado worked well with Lamela and Chadli they seem on the same wave length.

Adebayor is a better lone forward than Soldado especially in this league IMO. I don't think it's a case of just swapping them over, still expecting to play the same way and there being a better end product because Soldado's a better finisher/better feet than adebayor. personally think we'd get a lot less concerted pressure in the final third. Soldado gets pressed off the ball too easily. adebayor's not perfect by any means and sometimes his touch is shocking for a premier league player. But he's awkward to deal with and he's better to play off of.

Every game we play I find myself posting how terrible and pathetic he is, how much I despise him and how much I want him to get the fuck out of this club.

Each and every time I get neg-repped.

Hold your hands up, who and where are these fanboys and what the fuck are you watching?

He needs to go, he's making me hate my team.

Adebayor
Townsend
Rose
Kaboul
Lennon
Naughton
Dembele

For me, all these need to go - and quick. We'll never be where we are striving to be with this shower of shit.

68% possession and only 1 shot on target... we're severely lacking a cutting edge

Yet another instance when we expect a supposedly inferior team to simply roll over. Hope there is some serious arse kicking at The Lodge this week.

Im starting to think AVB had the right idea. The guy has always been a fruitcake but he used to play a little football.
