Could upset the team spirit we've built in the team, too lazy too often, on enormous wages, he's been average for at least the last three years, and there are better, cheaper options out there IMO.

Big fat NO from me.

city made it clear they will not sell to us a top 4 rival hence bellamy ending up in the championship, so whats changed for them to want to do business with us breathing down there neck 1 point adrift??

I would rather stick with the peace and harmony our current crop upfront have shown so far with all the rotating they've done till the summer than be dicked about by city again for them to pull the plug at the 11th hour.

I honestly think we could get Suarez cheaper, or possibly Dzeko for similar money. Both are more consistent. Although whoever Harry thinks is the right man i'm happy to go along with. We all know how important a top striker is, so i'm sure both Daniel Levy and Harry Redknapp know aswell. I expect them to pull out all the stops to bring someone in.

BOth are also unproven in our league, where as Adeboyar has shown his ability to be devasting in our league.

He has pretty much all the qualities we desire from a striker I feel and Harry is the type of manager who could get him playing at his very best week in week out I believe (If Harry believes this too he will sign him)

I don't understand all this 'He's a wanker' talk, no doubt none of you who are slating his personality have even met the man or really know the first thing about him to make such damning judgements.

He seems like a pretty nice guy watching him on BBC during the world cup or his interviews after the attack on his team bus, what is it you are judging him on really? Dancing with Henry in a shitty Arsenal kit? A terrible sight yes but surely he made up for those past sins when he ran half the pitch to dive infront of their fans after putting the goons to the sword.

What I will say is this....he has never done anything seriously bad, arguements on field with Bendtner and rumours of sulks and unrest with Arsenal and now city (can I draw to your attention this is no more than Mr Gallas was frequently accused of and he is now shining in our colours)

Look rationally, none of us know the back stories to the incidents at this clubs. We know nothing of what was going on behind the scenes at these clubs, all we see is what we witness on the pitch and read in shit rag new papers (at least 50% chance of being total bollocks) so why be so rigidly judgemental about people you probably have never met and really know fuck all about on a personal level?

All this talk about the mans personality is equally as moronic as those who were running their mouth about Gallas before he joined the club, surely the success of Gallas should be enough for you to keep an open mind about a player an not judge them on how you percieve their personality based on what you have seen and read about them whilst playing for rival clubs.

Ok, if you don't think the player is good enough, doesn't suit our style or for the money you feel we could and should do better that is fair enough and you can easily make valid arguemnets to express these notions but to write him off based on what you think you know about him as a person is pretty fucking stupid when in reality you don't know the first thing about the guy and he like Gallas should never have been judged on your small minded opinions based largely on hearsay.

Yes, definitely. Pace, power, it's what we've been missing upfront for years and I said we should have tried to sign him in the summer.

Actually worries me that he's not really getting a look in at City. Attitude? Poor training? Maybe not that good? Who knows but I'd have serious reservations about this one.
A loan deal was mentioned which would be much much better but that all depends on who pays the wages.

Could see this happening if a) We get to the last day of the transfer window having missed out on all other targets and b) City decide that they do want to sell to us.

Think we can do better tbh. We already have a hot and cold striker in Defoe.

Ade never flashed Harry a grin and a wink after we beat them at their home patch

thought him and Gallas hated each other as well. Plus why would City help us. Not going to happen

He has had his problems with Mancini - but the crux of it is Citeh only play one up front under the Italian, and when Tevez is fit nobody else gets a look in.

no.... he's a prick, nothing to do with his scum past....he is a wanker all by himself.

Pretty much.

On his day, he is very effective.

But he is moody, disrespectful and lazy.

I watched one particular game the season he decided he should have moved from the Goons in the Summer, and, believe me I don't sympathise with the Goons very often, but I could fully understand why they were on his case. He was being paid a full year to play football, and because he didn't agree with a amangerial decision not to expect a bid for him he was quite clearly just strolling around.

Now, 'cos the grass wasn't greener where he went (well, really, just 'cos they have continue to buy and his performances don't warrant an automatic first team slot), he has decided he want out there now.

The fact that this involves my number 1 most despised team (in the 1st instance), and the team I would most like to see fall flat on their faces (in the 2nd), has no bearing on this whatsoever.

Why you trying to make a rational point AngerManagement?

As you mentioned, the redtops have him down as a trouble-maker and so do more than half the posters here according to the poll.

Who do you think we could get for that money?

It's not as easy as you think to persuade a top player to move during the Jan transfer window and even harder to strike a deal with the club that hold his registration to sell.

Players mentioned thus far in this thread include Suarez and Dzeko, neither of whom have ever played in our league and none of us really know how well they would fare where as we have a good idea of what Adeboyor can do in the PRemier League.

Who is there for that kind of money that represents a better safer bet for us, would suit our team better and more importantly is someone we could potentially sign?

I'm not saying he is our best option, more playing devils advocate to your post (seeing as you made a statement without actually offerring suggestions to support your claim)

Torres is probably a better signing, but I highly doubt we could sign him in Jan plus his injury record is probably a bigger worry than Adeboyars inconsistant form.

I am not a world football expert so I don't really know which type of strikers you suggest we could sign, but everyone who comes to mind have an equal amount of negative concerns....
Forlan - Old and failed in our league before, Ibrahimovic- too expensive, wages too high and we couldn't sign him
Suarez- Unproven in our league
Torres- Injury concerns and unlikely to be availble
Fabiano- old, unproven in our league, questions over temprement and just signed new contract
Dzeko- in demand, unproven, looked shit against Fulham
Gomez- Unlikely to sign as doing well at a bigger club now

Etc etc, it's not as easy as you think to sign this marquis striker you speak of.

That being said Adeboyor himself is unlikey to be sold to us. Man City have already shown a lack of willingness to sell to us with Bellamy so why would this change midseason? his wages are also probably way beyond our cap and I doubt he would take a cut (these issues are much more relevant than people saying they think he is a wanker)

true, it's deja vu with the 'would you sign Gallas?' threads before the last transfer window.

I still think Man City would refuse to sell to us anyway so all this debate is likely to be in vein.

Drogba is an incredible player with a high work rate for the team. Him yes, although he is very iconic for Chelsea and seeing him with us would feel strange. And I dont think he is a primadona.

Ronaldo is selfish, overated, a diver and primadona. So a definite NO.

Ibrahimovich is a primadona, a bit selfish too and very arrogant, looking for cheap fights. So he is a NO NO as well.

You are a fool for even suggesting that Spurs should not take on Ronaldo and Ibra, I know it is a meaningless argument, but the fact that you wouldn't have two of the best players in the world at Spurs means I simply can't take you serious anymore.
