Another thread ruined by stupid arguments

Jeebus SP, your ignore list must be very long now (Im probably on it too)

You are, but I've been thinking about taking you off for a while as most of your posts are sensible, if unspectacular...you just really annoyed me on one particular argument:grin:

What makes me laugh is folk who think they 'must' be heard, and what to go back and back and back for more and more and more. It's the Internet not cracking point with a presumed life-partner, FFS.

And just for the record (not you, Guy): it would be illogical to say Adebayor played like a Bottlenose Dolphin for a season, as no-one (so far as I know) has actually seen one play 90 minutes for a top Premiership club). It is not illogical to reflect on an honest, if subjective, opinion based on observations, in many games, of a particular player, cross-reference it with the opinions of innumerable supporters of the team that player actually plays for. See that the consensus (vocalised, amongst other things, by booing), apparently, tends to confirm ones subjective opinion. Conclude that it is a reasonable (if not infallible) opinion to hold. And then make a statement of that opinion (largely) following the grammatical rules of the language utilised. If anyone thinks that is 'illogical', really, they should just give up the ghost now, and get the strait-jacket on:duh:

What does being on ignore mean ?

I'm pretty sure that I'm on SP's 'ignore' list as well as $hogun's and EastLondonYid's merely for pointing out that they were wrong about Gareth Bale's best position being LB and wouldn't admit it.

I haven't had a comment from any of them in ages so I assumed it meant that the James Hunts couldn't see my posts :)

But didn't I actually start this thread ?

Oh dear.

Was it logic that led you to believe Bale is best at left back SP?

Or was it just plain old fashoined, self-deprecating humour?

Actually, Adam, I still don't think we have a definitive answer about Bale. Given that Mr Redknapp has again, in the last edition of Hotspur Magazine said that he still believes he will ultimately go back to the left-back position he started at (and has played and played well this season), I don't see why you feel so much like a definitive answer has been given. Especially when I said over and over again that I bvelieved Bale would make a very good winger.

But no, it was the fact that STILL you don't undersand the point I was making (and it was impossible for me to be wrong on). If Bale was classified as a full-back, and playing as a full-back then it was ludicrous for one poster to call another stupid for saying he was a full-back (and that actually hppened). That has nothing to do with anyone's opinion of where he should play, which is subjective and therefore up for endless debate. It is anobjective fact...and the the fact that you still don't get this defies words. Oh, and what finally dd it for me was when Bale had an incredible game on the wing, and you game on here and made a post saying I must be livid...what a fucking stupid thing to say - that a Spurs fan would be livid that a Spurs player had an excellent game.

That and the fact that you refusee to accept when he had a good game at full-back and go conspiciously quiet when he has a more 'average' game on the wing (of which there have been a few this season), kinda make me not want to debate with someone who doesn't really know how to debate.

You are completely right, Bale will be a left back for the very reason that Harry has consistently pointed out, and which is very obvious if you watch the Premiership: because wingers are becoming obsolete due to the fact of their easiness to mark and double up on, and tactical advances.

If Barca/Real bought him he would obviously be a LB. For now though he does his damage on the wing and thats where he will stay in the main for the foreseeable.

What is this post SP?

Humour or tongue in cheek?

Bale has risen to the very top of his trade as a LEFT WINGER, there isn't a big club in Europe today who wouldn't be willing to take him off our hands if we were willing to sell.

He has achieved that 'world class' status as a LEFT WINGER, he has every single attribute you could hope for in a wide attacking player, I don't have to list them here as we're all more than familiar with them.

Do people on here really think he could have scored a hat trick against Inter if he was playing left back?

I'm guessing he's put you on ignore then. Well unless he's actually ignoring you 'in person' (because you're right) :)
