So what exactly did you expect more from him? 10 goals and 5 assists?
I posted above so to be short, playing 90 minutes, being consistent, standing up to physical challenges.

In any case, I'm not sure how why I need to defend who has been disappointing to ME (per thread's title) over and again, but hey ho

Moura has got off quite lightly in here seeing as he seems unable to control the ball with his first touch 7/10 times.

Alex Morgan. But there's still time for her to turn it around.

Oh wait, she's gone.

Bale

It's actually a joke Toby has been put on the list, been 5x better than last season

Fair enough- and as i said it's not slating a player for the sake of it but rather discussing why player "X" has disappointed you this season. He could even be playing well (which i'd say overall Toby has been), but still be "disappointing" (see: N'dombele, Tanguy). Which brings us to Mr. Alderweireld. Is he better this year than last? Sure (as is Tanguy). But is it at the level I'd hoped ? For me when talking about him, not really- no. Why? Well, as a team, what is one of our most glaring weaknesses? Defending set pieces. We're horrid at it. And whose primary job is it to defend set pieces? The Center Backs. And who is our main Center Back? Toby. So yeah, I partly blame him for our horrendous set piece defense. We have lost matches in part because of his shit set-piece play; hence, my disappointment. I think he should lead by example and be our better-looking, more suave Robert Huth.

Ndombele, has a ridiculous amount of talent but we so rarely actually see it. Never makes it past 60 mins. Not sure whether it's him or Jose's fault for not getting the best out of him. Bale for obvious reasons. Doherty just looks rubbish so far. On a more positive note have been pleasantly surprised by the performances of Dier, Aurier (bar Sunday), Hugo and Sissoko, and Kane has gone up a level.

I think Lo Celso flatters to deceive tbh. Looks flashy but his actual contribution is disappointing and he's injured a lot...

I dunno if it is Mourinho instructions to players and it will take them a while to fully get to grips. This whole thing is a work in progress, but several players hit that list for me.

However, I had us penned in for a 6th / 7th place finish at the start of the season, and so far, recent disappointments included, the team collective have way surpassed my expectations thus far. Which is great. Its a still a newish project.

I'd also add, that for the players this season who have disappointed there are those that have exceeded. Ala Aurier, Dier, Lloris, Toby, PEH.

On the disappointing list as I expect far more on on individual basis, but could all do my opinion do better:

Dele, Moura, Tanguy, Lo celso, Sanchez, Doherty, Winks, Bale.

If any of them were replaced at this time, I don't think the spurs side would miss them. Granted some don't get many games, but I can only go on what I've seen.

I tend to agree with @taidgh about Tanguy. I find him disappointing despite moments of cleverness. I had.much higher hopes for his overall game.this season.

I'd have thought Locelso would be kicking onto being one of the best players too, but he has had a few poor performances. I also thought Dele would be one of our players of the season under JM, so shows what I know!

Obviously there are areas of tactics and injuries that impact performance, but that's my onions based on how they have been deployed. Hopefully they go on to up.their games and fulfil expectations on an individual level. As I said though, the team collective has got us to a place i didn't expect. But I get the impression some players are carrying others with effort levels more than they should have to on the pitch.

It's a work in progress.

Dele as I thought he would be superb under Mourinho but it looks to me that he has just not bought into what Mourinho wants and demands.

Davinson hasn't played much but has been poor when he has.

Bale looks like a player who has been on the fringes of football for 18 months but don't know how he'll get up to the standard we expect from him if he's only used sparingly, personally I'd give him a run in the 1st XI ahead of Bergwijn for about a month and then we'll know one way or the other if he still has it.

Maybe because this thread is about the players who have disappointed/ underwhelmed. What you've stated about Lucas the majority of Spurs fans have come to expect, therefore, it's standard Moura imo

Exactly, he hasn't disappointed me any more or less this season than when we signed him.

Doherty - arguably still finding his feet with us after being with Wolves for 10+ years. But I expected more, especially in attack. Wonder if things would've been different had he scored that chance against Everton. Looks completely lost.

Winks - if playing for José Mourinho at his boyhood club can't motivate him, I'm not sure anything ever will.

Bale - looks unfit and as if he's just going through the motions. Underwhelming return so far.

Fair comment actually. But I can't help expecting to see.more from.him. it's in there, a top player and I can't help but expect him to do another champs league special. That's why I find him disappointing this season. Hoping the real Lucas will come out to play.as opposed to this insipid version.
