That's the squad. The probable first XI would feature Lloris, Dier, Davies, Son, Kane and Moura (and I'm not sure he'd be picked if we had the players to play 532 more often). So around half the first team.
So do most other clubs. We just focus on our own. We've actually had a quite refresh of the first XI over the last three years, and that team is battling for a top four finish. Our problem is still lack of balance and that our best players are the ones who have been at the club for a while...
Wasn't that also the Summer we sold Berbatov and Keane for £50m?
The main issue people fail to understand (in life, let alone football) is that money doesn't grow on trees. We can't spend what we don't have, and Levy won't extend the credit line to purchase players. He'll do so for capital...
I must have said this a hundred times, but Levy won't spend money to try and push us to the next level. The only time he has spent money, against the norm, is when we trying to arrest a slide. He has never taken the extra leap of faith. For example when Redknapp first qualified for the...
My favourite player was Teddy. My second favourite was Graham Roberts. But the best I've seen since being a Spurs fan (1981) is Hoddle.
When other fans make fun of Spurs and tease us about not being a big club I point out that we've underachieved considering we've had so many great players...
He wanted to play against European competition. Had English teams not been kicked out of Europe, he may have stayed, at least for another season. But playing in another country was also on his bucket list.
How much of that is down to the recruitment team vs what we're willing to risk on players? E.g. Grealish, Bruno Fernandes etc. All the recruitment team can realistically do is put forward players they rate. They aren't responsible for actually signing those players. Our issues go back way...
It's the midfield that is the problem. There is no protection at all. Hojbjerg is everywhere except for shielding the back four (see the second goal for example).
I personally wish with this squad he'd revert to a 4-4-2 and play Moura and Gil on the flanks. Lock up the midfield with Skipp and Hojbjerg. Kane in the "Teddy" or "VDV" role and Son up top, playing on the shoulder of the last man.
Unfortunately it is his lack of social media presence that clearly demonstrates he wants to leave. Usually he (or whoever it is that does his social media for him) is all over it after a result. The tumbleweed silence is deafening......
Club. Most international competitions my main desire is that Spurs players come home early and injury free. I rarely even bother watching England if there are no Spurs or ex-Spurs in the line up. And I detest the ridiculous OTT hype and excuses made tournament after tournament.
Yes, I do believe he'd have been given the job had he'd been black and of a similar background. Mason is very highly thought of at the club. Not because of the colour of his skin, but because he always has been, even as a youth player and there has always been talk of his footballing...
I wouldn't be so sure. Son was quite poor during the second half of the season and he has never really played that well with Kane up top in a two striker formation.
But it is all speculation. Conte hasn't joined yet and we don't even know if he'll play 5-3-2.
Alli's best season for us was playing as a False Nine, along side Kane, in a 3-5-2. It was also our best season under Poch, especially in terms of entertaining football.
