Why are people blaming Dier. Hjoberg should have let it For a corner?,
That was Perisic but yeah I don't know why he tried so hard to keep it in. Not sure if it was a throw or a corner but it put us on the back foot once he smashed it into the defender and Hojbjerg was really poor to lose possession. I guess if Perisic had put in a beautiful cross and we'd scored we'd all be praising him for busting a gut to keep the ball in but it seemed so speculative, like most of the rest of our attacking play.

Can't believe the lack of levy out chants. heard 3 small bits of it that's it. I genuinely thought it would get toxic if we went behind but he's getting away pretty much Scot free.

We're a team completely lacking in confidence, and still an awful lot of mistakes but the effort shows they haven't yet checked out. That's important if we are going to turn it around in the Summer.
they'll be the same bunch of losers after summer. We just won't bin them. Have a 3 year contract dire Dier

Hojbjerg should have let it out but Dier could have at least tried to block or tackle. It was Sunday league defending if your being kind.

To be fair we are shit across the pitch. No cohesion, no effort, no ideas, no bollocks and no heart.

You can see the damage of the last 3 years there. Some players are trying to get in behind and there are no options coming from midfield. It's been give it to son and Kane for so long that midfield don't gamble on runs unless they are the ones being played through.

I appreciate Ryan hasn't had much time to change things but our 2 man midfield isn't working. I think trying to press and be more on the front foot, I would try a 4231 or a 433. We need to get an extra man to help break up play but to also support the attack

We had three golden chances. Son had a not particularly hard square ball to either Richarlison or Kane for a tap in, Richarlison choosing to cross instead of shoot, and the Perisic one on one.

In general it has been, unsurprisingly, inconsistent. We've been a bit passive at times, got in their faces alright at times. The football has been haphazard and lacking in quality. Nothing of any surprise tbh.

But two soft goals conceded. The first goal is just weak from Porro/Romero again, they must have been at fault for more goals now than the lamented Emerson/Sanchez combo, and Dier might not have the speed, and it's fucking naive from us to get caught 1vs1 at the back you have to say, but he's not close enough and in general a lot of the times that half where they put a move together was when he was too slow to push out and got done and then we were in scramble mode.

Also have to say... If we don't get men in the box, we won't score goals. Son and Kane I am looking at you in particular. Numerous times in that 45 where something went across the box and usually Kane is outside it and Son is making some barmy little convoluted run to get a cutback. RUN AT THE NET SOMEONE. There were a couple of tap ins to be had!

Mason isn't the answer to any question, but if the players suppoosedly wanted him then they're certainly not showing it out there tonight. I expect they saw him as some wet behind the ears sap who will take the can for their continuing lazyness

No doubt people will jump on Dier for that goal but I'm not, I'm laying that squarely on Perisic. Stopped us getting a corner two minutes before half time then fucks up with a pathetic cross that got blocked two yards away, fucking amateur.

Yes perisic is at fault, but there was awful play after that.

Diers "defending" was worse than school boy. Needed to get out and tight to rashford but just slowed down, got stood up and let him walk by for an easy shit on goal.

We have a lot of problems, but Dier is central to most of them.

Watching the Everton game and tarkowski is throwing himself in front off everything. Dier just strolls about doing fuck all

You can blame both. Dier basically just let Rashford have a free shot..
Yes he could or should have done better but Rashford is a top striker on form with a free run at goal, a foul is a red card in that situation. He should never have been put in position.

Can we at least try to get tight to players once in a while? Nearly every pass for them is so easy.

Surely, Dier gave too much space to Rashford? He clearly has no confidence atm.
Maybe, but honestly that was like when you used to play 2v2 with your mates over the park on the full size pitch when you were 10. If Dier was tight then a ball over the top does him, if he gives him space then Rashford is just going to run him. Where was the right side of our defense? Why was he left 1v1?

Mate honestly he's been appalling since the world cup. Not great before either

Maybe it’s because I’m sat behind the goal that I see it differently. He’s the only one back there today having a go at people, trying to organise the rubbish next to him, actually giving a shit.
