We need to sack this game off. We have too many games coming up and need to beat Leicester (who are struggling) and Brighton (half their team out injured). The whole team needs resting. Just focus on the league as we do not have the squad for this stuff.

Also Rennes are second in the french Ligue. They’re a champions league quality side. There is zero guarantee our first team will win. Just rest everyone and don’t take the risk. Way too many games coming up

I really wasn’t in this way of thinking but after today I’m coming round to it. If we go through we will have to play that extra round too. We’ve only ourselves to blame to be in this position but going out of this really could help our top four hopes.

Even if we do win it will be slim and what if vitesse smash mura? All for nothing. Our injuries are starting to wrack up we really do not have the squad for this. We need a weeks rest ready to beat a energetic Brighton side.

Go strong. Give players more game time to get the tactics and fitness up, and let's see if we can win something....

Small rotations in the starting 11 to get through the month and strengthen in January.

Our second string isn't even close to being up to the task on Thursday. You gotta' go strong to start, get in front and then start taking off players. 5 subs is very handy

Id take this seriously if we could put a team out that wouldnt harm our game on sunday - but cant see it... to win this game we will need our A team and A game.

I want us to prioritise the league given we really are not in a position to rotate our team and win this game.

Id rotate our first 11 as is and hope for the best - I suspect Rennes will not play their best 11 as theyre already through

Take it seriously and go through, take our foot off the gas and go out.

Going through gives fringe players more time to get into gear for Conte, going out gives him more time to work with the squad, both outcomes give game time to any potential incomings in January.

I'd be happy with either outcome but I do want us to go through and give this competition a run. It's been so long since we've won anything and it really should be something we can win.

The only issue is the play offs come sandwiched between away games at City and Leeds and if we're in touch with the top 4 then it'll be a more difficult decision.

Would it be the worst outcome if we did get knocked out? Conte would get more time to work with the players without the mid-week prep for ECL games. I'm only truly advocating for this because we have a real chance at Top 4 and the sooner the players understand his philosophy, the better our odds of having a pretty good end to our season.

If Rennes bring their first team then I’d rather rest our first team and risk getting eliminated than playing our strongest XI. We’ve some tough fixtures coming up, we already have a few key injuries and Rennes are a very good side… it’s unlikely we’re going to turn them over (as in win by a greater margin than Vitesse v Mura). If Rennes are resting players then if Conte wants to progress in the competition, play our first XI and they should be able to score 3-4 against a weakened side.

It may be an advantage to us as they might want to preserve some of their first choice players for the French league as they are already group winners, no matter what result against us.

I think Conte should this as a opportunity to see what some of the younger players can offer him. He has an idea of his starting 11 and though the likes of Dele and Ndombele seem to on their way out, Rodon, Gil, Markanday, White, Scarlett should be given a chance to impress.
