Just got back as went out straight after but want to offer some thoughts.

I was surprised we went with the two in the middle again mainly because if that's what we're doing lo celso and N'dombele can pretty much kiss their spurs careers goodbye.

It was a slog. Real battling away draw . It wasn't fun and I'll be honest it I was Nuno I'd have hit the roof but it wasn't Nuno and you can see he is trying to implement a system and get them fit so we have to be patient.

Reguillion really needs to calm down, he is so rash. I thought Emerson was good, he is starting to look a really good buy the back three were OK. Nothing much to say.

I thought Holjberg was pretty bad poor on the ball and didn't even sweep up that well. Skipp was combatative and neat and tidy. We desperately need an upgrade in this position. I said It in the summer and think so now.

Does anyone else think their might be a sniff for Bryan Gil in this system? Lucas especially seemed to be tasked with dropping into a number 8 role and to make things happen , I think Gil could excel in this role.

Kane was way off it again and I think son looked really affected by the boo's

It's really a work in progress but if we can get the front two firing then we can quickly climb the league.

Onwards and upwards. COYS!

I’m well aware he’s had 5 days with them but to create nothing aside from a long range effort against that Everton side who shipped 5 at home to Watford in 10 minutes is still unacceptable.
True but you can't judge every team based on a game or two, or a bad 10 minutes. Form ebbs and flows and performances fluctuate. Weird things happen in football and the 5 Watford goals were a freak occurrence, a bit like Villa beating Liverpool 7-1 or us beating United 6-1 last season: they don't really mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

Everton obviously aren't a great team, but they were well up for it today and the crowd were absolutely pumping. Benitez must know that he was under a bit of pressure after some losses and had them really fighting for every ball and giving it everything.

We were also trying a completely new system and passing it out from the back for the second game in about 2 years. We have to accept that while we try to adjust to a new style of play there will inevitably be teething problems. We don't have a pre-season to practice Conte's passing patterns so for these next few games we're essentially trying to live in the house while we build it. As a result we have to accept that we're going to make a lot of mistakes while our players get used to it. Oh, and the entire 11 played a match 3 days ago and were a man down for half an hour, which inevitably had a big impact on their fitness and freshness.

Sure, in the long run we'd fully expect to beat this Everton team, but we need to be patient and not expect everything at once. These things take time.

I really didn't see anything from today's game to excite me unfortunately,
I saw some things to excite me and plenty to interest me, I was involved for the whole game.
If we could only improve our attacking and defending of set pieces there are so many points and wins right there
Today the defending was there, but the attacking, deary me
How did West Ham win at Everton, 1 0 through a corner. How did they beat us.. How did they score their first today...
We really need to work on set pieces, both ends

We're definitely less ponderous with the ball. It's still obviously very sloppy, but there appears to be (at least to me) less pointless to and fro possession/passing

My god, the bitching and whining.
For where we are at the moment, that was good effort and a good point. It's been ages since we were so solid defending. Inches away from winning too.

Maybe there's hope after all, and not everyone here is a doom monger.

Superb interview. This man takes no bullshit. ‘My…We…Our’- he’s already stamping his authority over this club. And I love the Catholic vibe- how many times does he mention ‘suffering’? Bring the trumpets and the horsemen, Antonio, and let’s End of Days the dross in this squad

Problem is that we have not replace Erikson. As such, Kane, Mauro and Son are tasked with creating chances and scoring. Son is a cheetah who needs space behind to run into. In this game, no such spaces existed. And Kane in midfield means no Kane up front, and vise versa.

I think most people would be positive whatever the result given Conte has only just arrived and we all appreciate this is a work in progress. I think we also appreciate that some of these players are going to be gotten rid of to generate as much extra funds as we can when the time is right.

I saw 30 mins of highlights and there were some promising signs. Expectations are high and perhaps unreasonable if you want to see a dramatic change so quickly. However, I saw enough green shoots and not such a bad performance as some of the comments indicate. We were combative and held our line defensively. I think the 3-5-2 rather then 3-4-3 is ideal for us as it gives us an extra man in MF with a creative ball player. Who that is remains to be seen. But then again maybe Conte sees the wingbacks as providing that creativity in a 3-4-3. This is a much more aggressive system that will take some getting used to. There were moments when the last ball went awry and the players seemed off wave length with each other but then a new system takes time to adapt to. I was left feeling a lot more positive after what i saw. As Conte said, its all down to work and I suspect fitness as well. Its going to take at least 5-6 games before this group starts to gel and playing to Conte's system in an effective manner.
